Supplier Development Engineer, PCBA (Starshield)
Skills
- Experience with PCBA manufacturing, SMT processing or microelectronics packaging
- Familiarity with supplier quality processes (PPAP, APQP, FAI)
- Basic statistical and data-analysis skills (DOE, Six Sigma concepts)
- Knowledge of quality systems (ISO 9000/AS9100/NADCAP) and IPC manufacturing standards
- Experience with failure analysis tools and techniques (X-ray, cross-sectioning)
- Strong written/verbal communication and presentation skills
- Ability to travel frequently (up to 25-60%) and work extended hours when required
Responsibilities
- Own and manage PCBA processes and products for the Starshield supply chain
- Ensure continuity of supply for electronic assemblies to meet production volume targets
- Collaborate with design engineers to understand piece part and assembly design intent
- Support procurement in sourcing suppliers matched to required manufacturing competencies
- Create and flow down supplier technical requirements and production controls
- Implement and monitor PPAP and other supplier approval processes to enable rate production
- Analyze supplier quality and delivery metrics to identify trends and drive corrective actions
- Recommend product and process improvements to reduce risk, defects, cost and cycle time
- Serve as liaison between purchasing, engineering, manufacturing, and suppliers to resolve issues
- Lead supplier improvement projects focused on yield, cycle time and cost reduction
Education
- Bachelor’s degree in electrical, mechanical, materials, hardware engineering, engineering physics, or related engineering discipline
