Description
The Assembly Engineering Co-op will play an important role in planning and executing assembly-related activities for Rennscot MFG's operations. This position offers an opportunity for hands-on experience and professional growth in an engineering discipling. This position works closely with other departments within Rennscot MFG and helps ensure all assembly and related activities (ex. part marking) are completed on-time and to client requirements.
Responsibilities
Operate laser markers/cutters, power tools (handheld/bench top), forklift, and other machinery with little to no supervision.
Perform and document assembly tasks such as pin installation, threaded insert installation, part marking, component assembly, finish application, and packaging, ensuring strict adherence to work instructions and customer requirements.
Design and setup of fixturing, tooling, and other supporting activities.
Collaborate in developing detailed process plans and implementing process improvements.
Inspect and measure in-process and finished products
Understand and follow the Quality Manual, Procedures, and Training requirements
Maintain accurate time tracking records.
Proactively improve one’s own knowledge and skills
Maintain high standards of cleanliness and organization in the workspace.
Perform deliveries and pickups from vendors and local suppliers as needed.
Step into other support roles as needed based on company demands (ex. assist with CNC machine operation, post-processing additively manufactured parts, component inspection, or logistics tasks)
Required Skills & Qualifications
Currently enrolled in an accredited program in Mechanical or Manufacturing Engineering, or a related field
Strong mechanical aptitude.
Good math/logical reasoning skills.
Strong attention to detail and results-driven approach.
Ability to stand for extended periods and lift up to 60 pounds.
Proficient in using computers for document reading and file modification.
Familiarity with basic shop and hand tools.
Strong troubleshooting and problem-solving skills under pressure.
Preferred Skills & Qualifications
Experience using basic metrology tools (calipers, micrometer, etc.).
Experience working in a manufacturing environment (ex. machine shop).
Automotive mechanic experience or similar.
Ability to read and interpret mechanical drawings and documents.
Basic understanding of subtractive manufacturing processes.
Experience in designing fixtures and jigs to be used in assembly and/or fabrication.
