We are seeking a highly skilled engineer to lead AI-assisted structural optimization and materials selection for advanced defense applications. This role combines hands-on experience with finite element analysis (FEA), topology optimization, and materials engineering to improve component performance, manufacturability, and cost efficiency. You will work closely with AI/ML experts to integrate advanced computational workflows, translating engineering challenges into automated, data-driven solutions. The ideal candidate thrives in a collaborative, high-impact environment, balancing technical rigor with practical design judgment while contributing to cutting-edge AI-enabled engineering projects.

Accountabilities

·         Perform finite element analysis (FEA) and topology optimization using tools such as Altair or ANSYS, evaluating results against material and manufacturing constraints.

·         Guide materials selection and substitution efforts, considering engineering tradeoffs and commercial alloy databases.

·         Integrate AI/ML models with FEA and topology optimization workflows to accelerate design processes.

·         Assess manufacturability of designs, including traditional processes like casting, forging, and welding.

·         Provide expertise on metals, alloys, and material processing conditions for component redesign.

·         Document workflows, tools, and deliverables to support knowledge transfer and commercial readiness.

·         Participate in internal and client-facing meetings, presenting technical findings clearly and effectively.

·         MS or PhD in Mechanical Engineering, Materials Engineering, or related field.

·         5+ years of experience in at least two of the following areas: FEA (Altair, ANSYS), topology optimization, applied materials engineering, or component design for manufacturability.

·         Strong knowledge of CAE procedures and target requirements for structural components.

·         Ability to evaluate material-performance tradeoffs and manufacturability for processes such as forging, casting, and joining.

·         Proficiency in Python and familiarity with APIs for engineering software integration.

·         Excellent problem-solving, analytical, and communication skills.

·         Preferred: background in metallurgical engineering or applied materials science, experience with AI-driven engineering tools, structural/lightweight design principles, and cloud-based high-performance computing environments.
