Mechanical Engineer (Facilities)
Skills
- Experience with fluid components (valves, pumps, compressors, heat exchangers, pressure transducers)
- CAD modeling proficiency (NX or equivalent)
- Fluid system analysis and pressure/component sizing
- Familiarity with HVAC systems and air ducting
- Experience with test instrumentation and data acquisition
- Understanding of GD&T and tolerance stack-up analysis
- Working knowledge of structural analysis and pressurized/lightweight structures
Responsibilities
- Own design and technical authority for campus fluid/HVAC components including compressors, heat exchangers, pumps, valves and dust collection systems
- Create CAD models and detailed designs for fluid system components and assemblies
- Perform fluid analyses for pressure balance, allowable stresses, and consumables sizing
- Coordinate with interdisciplinary stakeholders (production, avionics, GNC, operations) to ensure requirements are met
- Ensure designs are manufacturable and transfer smoothly to production with minimal sustainment
- Support material selection, component sizing, procurement, and test activities
Education
- Bachelor's degree in an engineering discipline (required)
- Master's degree in engineering (preferred)
