Responsibilities
- Resolve operational, infrastructure, and hardware incidents across multiple data centers
- Manage full lifecycle of data center hardware: deployment, operation, and decommission
- Physically rack, cable, and label data center equipment
- Track and organize physical storage for incoming equipment
- Perform quality assurance testing and address recurring hardware issues
- Schedule and track hardware maintenance tasks
- Update port maps, rack layouts, and create operational procedures
- Monitor environmental, power, and cooling systems to maintain optimal conditions
- Run hardware diagnostics and replace failing components promptly
- Upgrade internal components (CPUs, memory, storage)
- Install, configure, and operate common Linux and Windows servers
- Document processes, maintain event logs, and coordinate procurement with purchasing
Education
- Bachelor’s degree in a STEM discipline (preferred) or equivalent experience
- Alternative: 3+ years of professional data center experience without a degree
- Relevant IT infrastructure certifications are beneficial
