Who we’re looking for
Toyota’s Powertrain Calibration & Evaluation – 1 PCE1 Department is looking for a passionate and highly-motivated Powertrain Calibration Engineer.
The primary responsibility of this role is to calibrate the engine control systems to meet Toyota, regulatory, and customer requirements.
Reporting to a Senior Manager of EFI Calibration, the person in this role will support the PCE1 department's objective to calibrate world class powertrains in America.
What you’ll be doing
Execute engine control development activities as a member of a diverse calibration team to meet requirements for North America and global markets.
Complete engine calibration and testing in accordance with Toyota procedures to meet regulations and performance targets for emissions, fuel economy, vehicle performance, and ongoing production quality.
Continually improve software and calibration quality for Toyota vehicles.
Create and execute training materials in areas of technical expertise.
Data collection, advanced data analysis, and preparation of technical reports.
Develop new procedures and tools for testing, data analysis, and calibration .
Interface with other engine calibration functions and vehicle departments.
What you bring
A bachelor’s degree (or higher) in Mechanical or Electrical Engineering.
Minimum 2+ years of experience in EFI Calibration, powertrain controls, or related field.
Hands-on experience with engine bench and powertrain dynamometer systems.
Deep understanding of internal combustion engine theory/practice.
A year of Experience with MATLAB/Simulink/C /C++ or other programming language.
A year of experience in modeling and simulating using GT suite (GT-Power), Ricardo Wave, and other simulation tools.
Experience in investigating technical issues and creating technical solutions.
Self-motivated and responsible with willingness to work overtime to accomplish goals (up to 20%).
Excellent driving record.
May need to travel to support On road vehicle or Chassis Dyno testing (up to 10%).
Added bonus if you have
Experience with hybrid & EV calibration in vehicle powertrains.
Understanding of emissions regulations for US and other markets.
Advanced engineering degree.
Experience with HILS / SILS Testing.
Experience performing OBD or emission development for markets other than the US (Japan, Europe, China, etc.)
Experience with other programming languages such as Python, VBA, etc. (Asset if any)
Japanese language skill.
