Sr. SOC/ASIC Physical Design Engineer (Silicon Engineering)
Skills
- Bachelor’s in electrical/computer engineering or computer science
- 5+ years industry experience in ASIC and/or physical design flow development
- Hands-on experience with RTL-to-GDSII flows and industry-standard EDA signoff tools
- Knowledge of deep-submicron FinFET/CMOS physics and CMOS digital design principles
- Familiarity with DFT/Scan/MBIST/LBIST impacts on physical design
- Proficient scripting (bash/csh, Perl, Python, TCL, Makefile) for flow automation
- Strong debugging, problem-solving and cross-functional collaboration skills
- Willingness to work extended hours/weekends when required and meet ITAR eligibility
Responsibilities
- Perform partition, synthesis and full physical implementation (floorplanning, P/G grid, place-and-route) through signoff (STA, LVS/DRC, ERC, EM/IR, equivalency).
- Develop and improve physical design methodologies, automation scripts and flows for implementation and signoff steps.
- Collaborate with ASIC architecture, RTL, firmware, validation and product teams to define timing, power, area targets and explore RTL/design tradeoffs.
- Identify, debug and resolve timing, congestion, noise, power and physical verification issues and drive closure.
- Run, debug and resolve static timing analysis, logic equivalency, physical verification, electromigration and voltage-drop signoff issues.
Education
- Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, or Computer Science (required)
- Master’s or PhD in a related field (preferred)
