Patient Support Manager

Shields Health Solutions is a specialty pharmacy management services company seeking an experienced, results-oriented Patient Support Manager to lead and develop frontline patient support supervisors and team members. The role focuses on operational leadership, quality, staffing and training to ensure patients receive timely medication access, prior authorization and financial assistance support while driving continuous improvement across the patient support function.

Skills

  • Proven people leadership and coaching skills with strong performance management experience
  • Operational acumen in high-volume environments (contact center or operations center experience preferred)
  • Strong verbal and written communication and ability to influence without formal authority
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Excel for reporting and data analysis
  • Experience with pharmacy dispensing systems or EMR platforms (Willow, Qs1, RX30 a plus)
  • Project management skills with ability to plan and execute new launches
  • High integrity and ability to manage confidential health information (PHI)

Responsibilities

  • Lead day-to-day operations for patient medication refill administration, inbound patient inquiries, prior authorization and financial assistance support
  • Manage and coach supervisors, team leads and Patient Support staff to maintain productivity and quality standards
  • Develop and implement workflow standardization and best practices across the Patient Support team
  • Coordinate staffing plans, forecasts and coverage to meet productivity and service level targets
  • Own escalation management for clinic/hospital service issues and drive action plans with stakeholders
  • Partner with training, talent acquisition and leadership to identify hiring, training, and retention strategies
  • Support new clinic and service launches by coordinating staffing, documentation, training, and readiness
  • Provide performance insights, reporting commentary, and continuous improvement recommendations
  • Participate in interviewing, recruiting, and broader talent management activities
  • Travel as required (up to ~20%) to support business needs

Education

  • Bachelor’s degree preferred (business administration, healthcare-related, or equivalent)
  • Relevant healthcare, pharmacy, or operations certifications considered a plus
