Staff Sales Solutions Engineer

R-Zero builds smart building technology that combines IAQ monitoring, HVAC filtration, occupancy sensing, and analytics to optimize indoor environments for health, energy, and space utilization. The company seeks a seasoned Staff Sales Solutions Engineer to lead and scale the pre-sales engineering function, scope occupancy-based DCV and related solutions, own technical handoffs into implementation, and help drive post-sale expansion and product feedback.

Skills

  • Deep knowledge of HVAC systems, controls, and building automation (BMS)
  • Experience with demand-controlled ventilation (DCV) strategies and IAQ standards (ASHRAE, WELL, LEED)
  • Strong pre-sales engineering experience supporting enterprise, multi-stakeholder sales cycles
  • Ability to produce scopes of work, ROI models, and technical designs
  • Experience leading and mentoring technical teams in high-growth environments
  • Comfort with occasional onsite work, physical tasks, and up to 20% travel

Responsibilities

  • Define and execute Sales Engineering strategy, processes, and tools to accelerate the sales cycle and improve conversion
  • Engage with Sales and customers to assess buildings, analyze HVAC/BMS systems, and identify DCV and smart-building opportunities
  • Develop scopes of work, technical designs, ROI analyses, and M&V models to communicate business value
  • Deliver and coach on high-impact platform demos, ROI tools, and technical presentations
  • Own end-to-end technical journey from pre-sales through implementation to ensure on-time, on-budget delivery and high customer satisfaction
  • Validate solution performance post-sale, identify expansion opportunities, and equip Sales for upsell/cross-sell
  • Perform site surveys (remote and in-person) to capture AHU specs, BAS configuration, BMS points, and trended data
  • Partner with Product and Engineering to feed field insights into the product roadmap
  • Create and maintain technical collateral, training resources, and enablement materials
  • Build, mentor, and lead a high-performing Sales Engineering team while acting as a player-coach
  • Measure and report KPIs for scoping accuracy, implementation efficiency, sales enablement, and customer growth

Education

  • Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering, Building Science, or related field required
  • Master’s degree or PE license is a plus
  • Industry certifications such as LEED AP, WELL AP, or CEM are nice to have
