solutions that make a difference in the moments that matter. The Sales Engineering groups have the technology and design responsibility for
all sales support engagements within the region.


Job Description

The Sr. Presales Engineer will be responsible for managing all aspects of the technical solution in the Presales phase of large and complex projects. As an architect of our proposals, this responsibility involves development, design, evaluation, and modification of system solutions and architecture to meet customer requirements. In addition, this engineer has to be knowledgeable about all stages of the project implementation - starting from scope definition until the final close-out.

The incumbent must be capable of:

  • Defining directions and requirements to ensure timely implementation of a quality technical solution
  • Providing engineering services to our Customers as a trusted advisor
  • Hosting system-level technical presentations for internal/external customers
  • Preparing system bids, taking into account the customer's needs and the equipment available
  • Operating with internal and external stakeholders to meet customer's delivery requirements

This position will be part of the Northeast Presales Engineering Team. You will be responsible for working closely with the Sales Team to deliver customer driven, world class, leading edge, end to end solutions that rise to the challenges of first responder, government (State & Local) agencies. The team concentrates on the following mission-critical communications technologies at various levels of complexity: Public Safety grade mobile/portable voice and data networks, Advanced Mobile devices, Public Safety mobile broadband networks and devices (LTE), Integrated Command and Control: 9-1-1 Dispatch Consoles, Computer Aided Dispatch (CAD)Intelligence Led Public Safety: Real time video and data analytics.

Responsibilities include but are not limited to:

  • Radio Coverage design and analysis
  • End-to-end solution design
  • Equipment list generation for LMR and Ecosystem solutions
  • Description of system design, including diagrams
  • Understanding customer requirements
  • Calculation of power and networking requirements
  • Participation in proposal reviews and contract negotiations
  • Consultative guidance to customers and sales team
  • Presentations to customers
  • Coordinate with the various functional teams (Systems Integration, Service, Sales, Product Groups) to ensure all business unit goals are addressed in our proposals and win-strategies
  • Development of the implementation approach and service plan necessary to win the project
  • Meet/exceed customer requirements and provide value alternatives when requirements cannot be met
  • Manage Motorola’s sales, revenue, and margin goals
  • Drive all sole source & RFP (Request for Proposal) projects to completion managing the schedules of each project team member (engineering, proposal specialist, sales, and service)

Qualifications:

  • Bachelors of Science, preferred emphasis in Electrical, Wireless, Computer, Network Engineering, or Computer Science
  • 4+ years of experience in engineering or solutions architecture
  • Strong general knowledge of wireless communications fundamentals and voice/data architectures - both public and private (e.g. APCO P25, LTE, 802.11, 3G/4G) highly desirable
  • Strong general knowledge of IP networking architecture, protocols and security highly desirable
  • Knowledge of RF coverage predictions, traffic/capacity modeling, and related toolsets an asset
  • A positive attitude with a can-do mentality that enables you to be creative, resourceful and deliver results
  • Strong written and oral communications skills with the ability to present complex topics to technical and nontechnical audiences
  • Ability to build strong relationships with internal and external stakeholders
  • Willingness to think out of the box and challenge the status quo
  • Attention to detail and a flawless execution mindset
  • Travel: 20-25% (domestic only)

Target Base Salary Range: $90,000 - $100,000 USD

Consistent with Motorola Solutions values and applicable law, we provide the following information to promote pay transparency and equity. Pay within this range varies and depends on job-related knowledge, skills, and experience. The actual offer will be based on the individual candidate.
