CCE Civic Leadership Fellow: Office and Program Support (AY 25-26 900637)

Join a fast-paced, creative, joyful work environment and make a positive impact on-campus and in the local community. We seek a self-motivated student to support Center for Community Engagement staff on a wide-range of projects including event planning, data input, program research, written documents, and logistical support. Each work shift will look slightly different based on the programming and needs of the Center for Community Engagement. 

This is an undergraduate level B student position with a starting wage of $14.43 per hour.

Responsibilities:

  • Provide in-person office coverage during office hours. 
  • Greet faculty, students, community partners, and other visitors to the Center for Community Engagement. Provide information about the office and our programs to visitors. 
  • Pursue innovative and creative ways to help spread understanding and awareness of the Center for Community Engagement programs on- and off-campus. 
  • Provide research assistance as needed (e.g., comparison to other campus programs, student civic leadership, support for faculty, etc.). 
  • Help to plan and organize one-time events for the Center for Community Engagement. 
  • Help prepare communications materials-for bulletin boards, posters, articles, etc. 
  • Assist with other office responsibilities as needed. 

This position is 10 hours per week in the Center for Community Engagement, ideally the candidate will be available fall semester, J-Term, and spring semester but we may be able to accommodate candidates who are only on campus for part of the academic year. 

Experience:

  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills; ability to manage and prioritize multiple tasks; self-motivated and ability to work independently and proactively on projects. Previous experience with collaborative, community-focused work, service-learning, and/or some familiarity with community-based organizations in Addison County preferred. Event planning experience helpful. Experience creating public-facing resources in Adobe Creative Suite, Canva, and/or ArcGIS helpful, but not required.  

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:

  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills; both oral and written. 
  • Strong organizational skills – within work environment and digital filing systems 
  • Strong computer skills, including Word, Excel, and Google Drive. Experience in Adobe Creative Suite, Canva, Qualtrics, and/or ArcGIS helpful but not required. 
  • Ability to manage and prioritize multiple tasks; self-motivated and ability to work independently and proactively on projects. 
  • Previous experience with collaborative, community-focused work, service-learning, and/or some familiarity with community-based organizations in Addison County preferred.  
  • Reliability and a strong commitment to the Center for Community Engagement’s mission. 
  • Ability to maintain confidentiality. 
  • Event planning experience helpful. 

Student Employment Eligibility:

Unless restricted by certain visa status, all students with an active status for the semester are eligible for jobs on campus.

Students on leave or withdrawn are not eligible to work in student employment positions until the semester in which they return. If you are currently withdrawn or on leave you are eligible to be employed in staff positions.

Some may be restricted due to financial aid status. International students (non-resident aliens) may not work off campus unless they have applied for and received work authorization from the United States government. (An F-1 visa does not give work authorization.) Off campus work study positions are available only to U.S. citizens on financial aid with a federal work study component.

Student are not eligible to work remotely from International locations.


Hour Limitations:

All student employees are limited to working no more than 20 hours per week in on campus jobs during the academic year (this includes exam periods). The only exception is when there is a full week when school is not in session. Specifically: February recess, Spring recess, and full weeks of December or summer recess. During these time periods only, students can work up to 40 hours per week. International Students: Visa restrictions prohibit international students from exceeding 20 hours of work per academic calendar week.
