Sr. Director - Sales and Customer Management (SCM)

This leadership role is ideal for a seasoned sales and operations professional who will oversee Sales and Customer Management (SCM) functions across key accounts. You will lead teams responsible for logistics, order fulfillment, and customer engagement, ensuring operational excellence while driving revenue growth. The role requires strategic thinking, strong analytical skills, and a hands-on approach to problem-solving. You will collaborate with cross-functional teams to optimize processes, improve service levels, and deliver exceptional customer experiences. This position offers the opportunity to influence both commercial strategy and operational execution in a dynamic, fast-paced environment.


Accountabilities:
  • Lead and manage the SCM and Logistics teams, ensuring alignment with company objectives and customer needs.
  • Oversee customer accounts, third-party carriers, and order fulfillment processes to maximize service levels and profitability.
  • Resolve customer issues proactively, collaborating with sales leadership and communicating solutions effectively.
  • Ensure pricing accuracy and maintain complete customer contracts in internal systems.
  • Conduct account analytics to drive revenue growth, identify trends, and optimize operations.
  • Support sales initiatives by visiting key accounts, attending trade shows, and participating in contract negotiations.
  • Collaborate with production and sales teams to identify opportunities for excess, dated, or expanded product sales.
  • Provide leadership and guidance to the SCM team through daily, weekly, and monthly communications.
  • Oversee systems and technical tools, including ERP and BI software, to monitor customer accounts, manage inventory, and analyze data.
Requirements:
  • Bachelor’s degree or equivalent experience; 7+ years in customer service, sales, logistics, or a closely related field.
  • 7+ years of sales management experience, including supervision of manager-level employees.
  • Strong communication skills across speaking, reading, and writing.
  • Proven problem-solving and analytical abilities, with strategic thinking and organizational skills.
  • Computer literacy with Microsoft Office Suite, including Word and Excel.
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities in a high-stress, fast-paced environment.
  • Professionalism and ability to work independently with limited supervision.
  • Preferred: knowledge of JD Edwards or other ERP systems; experience with Red Prairie or inventory management systems.
