Senior Analyst - Work Planning

The base salary range for this position is dependent upon experience and location, ranging from $94,490 to $118,113

Purpose

We are seeking a proactive and detail-oriented Work Planning & Scheduling Senior Analyst who will support Connecticut Natural Gas (CNG) and Southern Connecticut Gas (SCG) programs. This role is pivotal in driving operational efficiency through data-driven planning, scheduling, and performance analysis. The ideal candidate will be a collaborative problem-solver with a strong analytical mindset and a passion for continuous improvement.

They will interface with several team members on a variety of gas-related projects including process creation, improvement and implementation. SAP is the system of record to keep projects up-to-date and create accurate data reports. The Analyst will act as the department SME for all applications and interact with data owners and administrators of: FWM, SAP and Salesforce. They will take action to clean, correct, validate and provide data for various stakeholders. By identifying data anomalies, the Analyst will be able to recognize performance failures via records or defects in processes. In utilization of their expertise in analysis, reporting and project management they will proactively resolve issues related to industry compliance standards.

Job Overview

Employees in this position will support Field Supervision and Operations Management by creating a forecast and perform daily workload analysis related to Planning and Scheduling. The Analyst will utilize all applicable internal systems to find efficiencies, which will harmonize in-day work related to customer and compliance due dates. Provides feedback to Field Supervision and Operations Management regarding status of workload forecast versus actual metrics. Maintains current and accurate records of all field-related activity for regulatory reporting. Identifies difficult situations and works with Supervision to devise plans, which will lead to positive outcomes. Administers tracking and reporting of business metrics for assigned field related activities. Conducts regular business analysis on past, current and future performance related to the workload forecast. Develops recommendations and alternatives to meet all company objectives.

Responsibilities & Duties

Operational Planning & Forecasting

  • Develop and maintain daily workload forecasts and scheduling models.
  • Analyze past, current, and projected performance to optimize resource allocation.
  • Develop models to forecast workforce requirements to support both short- and long-term growth.
  • Develop automated Excel tools and Power BI dashboards upon request.

Scheduling & Coordination

  • Maintain and monitor schedules and workloads to ensure personnel availability and alignment with company objectives.
  • Confirm availability of Fitters and Welders to coordinate scheduling accordingly.
  • Communicate across departments to coordinate on Leaks, Abnormal Operating Conditions (AOCs), and compliance due dates.
  • Liaise with the Construction and Sales Teams regarding gas system installations, upgrades and retirements to schedule work orders and provide status updates.
  • Communicate directly with customers via phone and email to provide updates and resolve scheduling issues.

Data Analysis & Reporting

  • Serve as the subject matter expert (SME) for SAP, FWM and Salesforce.
  • Design and maintain Power BI dashboards and Power Apps to visualize operational performance and compliance metrics.
  • Create and manage a centralized data warehouse to support Power BI reporting and Power Apps.
  • Maintain the Power BI data warehouse and Power Apps monthly, confirming completion
  • Follow up with team members to collect missing or incomplete data.
  • Develop and apply Excel syntax and automation scripts to streamline data processing and reporting workflows.
  • Provide quantitative data and insights Senior Leadership
  • Respond to ad hoc data requests by delivering clear visualizations and actionable analysis.
  • Generate and distribute SAP reports and perform SAP-based data analytics upon request.
  • Use data validation tools to transfer and format work from daily schedules, ensuring consistency and accuracy of all job statuses
  • Utilize the CBYD (Call Before You Dig) platforms to verify job site readiness for construction crews and renew tickets as required.

Leadership, Communication & Compliance

  • Provide timely updates to management on work order completion status, customer-related concerns, and compliance matters related to Leaks and AOCs.
  • Provide forecast schedules and updates to internal teams as major changes occur.
  • Assign individual tasks and collaborate with Direct Managers to establish and track team goals.
  • Adapt quickly to changing priorities; lead meetings and provide training to company staff on new software tools and systems as needed.
  • Collaborate with the Operator Qualifications Department to ensure compliance and training alignment.
  • Develop action plans to reduce unplanned work, including driving proactive updates to Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) and collaborating with Leadership for implementation.
  • Establish and implement policies and procedures to ensure the Planning & Scheduling Team operates within company guidelines.
  • Monitor operational risks and escalate concerns to Senior Leadership as appropriate.
  • Participate in incident investigations in collaboration with Legal, HR, and Planning & Scheduling teams.
  • Ensure strict confidentiality of customer and operational data, especially in ongoing customer interactions.
  • Work closely with union officers to align goals and personnel.

  • Responsibilities may vary depending on the assigned Operations Center and union agreements.

Skills & Requirements

  • Bachelor’s Degree—Required
  • 5 years of relevant experience—Required
  • Experience in Natural Gas Industry—Required
  • Power BI, Power Apps & Data Visualization Tools—Strongly Preferred
  • SAP & Salesforce—Preferred
  • Office Suite—Intermediate to Advanced in Excel
