I/O Psychology Intern

HackerRank is a mission-driven SaaS company focused on skills-based hiring. We are seeking a part-time I-O Psychology PhD intern (ABD) to work with our I-O team on applied assessment projects, validation studies, data analysis, and scalable process development that support both customer-facing engagements and internal product research.

Skills

  • Foundational psychometrics and measurement theory
  • Validation strategies (content, criterion-related)
  • Familiarity with Uniform Guidelines on Employee Selection Procedures and EEO principles
  • Proficiency in statistical tools and reasoning (R, SPSS)
  • Strong technical writing and synthesis skills
  • Experience using Generative AI tools for writing, synthesis, or automation
  • Ability to work in fast-paced, applied environments with multiple priorities

Responsibilities

  • Assist with job analysis, validation studies, and assessment implementation for technical roles
  • Analyze product and assessment data (scores, completion times, usage patterns) to generate actionable insights
  • Prepare reports, slide decks, and deliverables for customers and internal stakeholders
  • Develop scalable tools, templates, and protocols to support professional services operations
  • Conduct background research and data analysis to inform product strategy and thought leadership
  • Collaborate with experienced I-O psychologists and cross-functional Go-to-Market teams

Education

  • Currently enrolled PhD student in Industrial-Organizational Psychology with ABD status (coursework and comprehensive exams completed)
  • Demonstrable coursework in psychometrics, validation, and research methods
