Position Classification: Not Union Eligible

Compensation: $75,000 - $93,000

Travel Percentage: 25%

Reports to: National Director of Organizing and Political Engagement

Position Classification

For Our Future recognizes a staff bargaining unit, affiliated with the International Brotherhood of Electrical Workers (IBEW) 494, a labor union. This position is NOT included in the For Our Future staff union.


Job Summary

The National Digital Organizing Manager leads For Our Future's (FOF) digital organizing efforts, developing and executing strategies for engaging and recruiting online volunteers, managing a digital volunteer base, and working with state staff on how to use digital tactics to continue growing their programs effectively. The focus of our work, both online and offline, is focused on working families' issues including but not limited to economic fairness, education, and racial justice. This role involves advising regional staff and state leadership, providing hands-on assistance with digital tools, and building and cultivating strategic partnerships with partners and allies doing work in the digital space. 



Essential Functions
  • Works with National Organizing team and State Leads on development of engagement model for digital volunteer leads, and works with Regional state teams to implement model
  • Directly manages distributed digital organizing programs and  volunteers,  facilitates actions taken by volunteers - including direct voter contact activities
  • Generates volunteer leads through daily and weekly digital doorknocking activities
  • Advises states on digital best practices for email, social media, and other digital organizing tactics
  • Trains state staff on email, social media, and other digital platforms and tools
  • Reviews and approves digital content for use by states
  • Maintains regular reports for national and state leadership on the efficacy of the online→offline volunteer pipeline 
  • Maintains reports on social media growth metrics for FOF states and HQ
  • Maintains and administers FOF national social media accounts and content
  • Performs other duties and responsibilities as designated by the Director of Organizing and Political Engagement
  • Other duties, responsibilities and activities may change or be assigned at any time with or without notice


Skills and Qualifications
  • At least 3 cycles of competitive campaign or advocacy experience.
  • At least 2 years of experience managing communications for an organization or campaign.
  • Experience implementing a statewide or national program tailored to an assigned region or scope.
  • Experience advising and executing strong press events in a variety of media markets and formats.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills and attention to detail.
  • Ability to manage, coach and train staff proficiently.
  • Strong knowledge of digital communication platforms, such as Slack or Discord.
  • Experience managing social media accounts and maximizing reach of content, preferred.
  • Ability to make outreach to and build partnerships with other progressive organizations.
  • Experience in managing programs that develop the capacity to meet metrics-based goals on data-driven campaigns.
  • Strong knowledge of email marketing best practices and tools.
  • Experience with managing website content and working with standard CMS’s such as WordPress preferred.
  • Must have basic computer literacy and access to a reliable laptop is preferred.
  • Ability to work long and irregular hours in a high-productivity, metrics-driven work environment.


Physical Requirements and Work Environment
  • This position is based in HQ as a remote position and will require occasional travel throughout the various FOF offices in Michigan, Pennsylvania, and Wisconsin including in-person interactions with employees and community partners. 
  • Prolonged periods of remaining in a stationary position at a desk and working on a computer
  • Must be able to transport up to 15 pounds at times
  • Must be able to travel to our offices in Michigan, Pennsylvania, Wisconsin, and other locations as assigned.

Expected Hours of Work
  • Normal hours of business are from 9:00 AM to 6:00 PM Eastern Time Monday through Friday, however, employees may be required to work outside of normal business hours including weekends, holidays, and nights.
  • Employees are required to abide by certain blackout dates during a campaign cycle or other key deadlines, and generally not allowed to take off during blackout periods. Emergencies are not affected by this policy.
