About the role
The Workforce Planning and Optimization Director will play a critical role in ensuring Equip’s treatment model is appropriately staffed to support high growth and scalability. This role will design, implement, and manage comprehensive workforce planning strategies to optimize headcount capacity, scheduling, and flexible labor solutions. This is a highly cross-functional role, working closely with Care Operations, Finance, People, and Commercial leadership to ensure we’re resourced effectively and delivering a consistent, high-quality patient experience. This role requires a mix of analytical rigor, strategic thinking, and operational intuition to align resourcing strategies with operational excellence to support Equip’s growth.
Responsibilities
Ensure sufficient headcount capacity across provider types to meet forecasted patient volumes by developing and maintaining robust resource capacity planning models.
Build and enhance analytical tools that enable workforce planning through accurate data collection, time-in-motion studies, and productivity benchmarking to deliver actionable insights to leadership.
Design and recommend flexible staffing and scheduling models to adapt to demand variability while supporting our ability to maintain high-quality patient care.
Conduct supply and demand scenario modeling to evaluate the workforce impact of business changes such as new service lines, growth initiatives, or shifting demand patterns.
Partner cross-functionally to align workforce strategies with broader organizational goals, including identifying opportunities to shift from manual processes to automation.
Continuously improve workforce planning processes, tools, and models to enhance scalability, efficiency, and decision-making.
Perform other duties as assigned.
Qualifications
Bachelor’s degree in Business, Operations, Statistics, Human Resources, or a related field; Master’s preferred.
8+ years of experience in workforce management, capacity planning, or operations strategy roles.
Demonstrated success in developing and executing flex staffing models and scalable workforce strategies.
Advanced Excel/Google Sheets modeling skills; experience with BI and WFM tools.
Experience in building and maintaining staffing models using SQL and AI.
Highly analytical thinker with strong business acumen and attention to detail.
Excellent communication skills with demonstrated ability to influence senior stakeholders and effectively collaborate cross-functionally.
Self-starter who thrives in ambiguity, takes ownership, and is capable of building scalable systems from the ground up.
Prior experience in healthcare is highly preferred.

Physical Demands
Work is performed 100% from home with no requirement to travel. This is a stationary position that requires the ability to operate standard office equipment and keyboards as well as to talk or hear by telephone. Sit or stand as needed.
