Analyst, Fraud Investigations

Chime is a rapidly growing fintech focused on making banking accessible and easy. The Fraud Investigator on the Chicago team will analyze and investigate suspicious activity — with emphasis on account takeovers, scams, and authentication-based threats — to inform risk strategy, improve detection, and protect member accounts while partnering closely with analytics and data science.

Skills

  • Fraud prevention and investigation experience
  • Proficient in SQL for data analysis
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
  • Ability to handle escalations and high-priority incidents
  • Excellent written and verbal communication
  • Experience working with cross-functional stakeholders
  • Ability to manage short- and long-term projects independently
  • Comfortable working in a fast-paced, technology-driven environment

Responsibilities

  • Monitor and improve risk reporting to adapt to shifting fraud trends
  • Investigate and respond to ATO and scam-related cases by analyzing account behavior, session/device patterns, and authentication attempts
  • Extract, review, and analyze data for exploratory and elevated suspicious activity
  • Support product and feature launches with proactive risk mitigation recommendations
  • Identify criteria, validate data, and communicate trends to influence fraud strategy, model revisions, and rule efficacy
  • Partner with Analytics and Data Science to deploy and tune models and risk mitigation tactics
  • Triage escalated cases that resulted in adverse account actioning
  • Optimize processes to improve member experience and fraud prevention efficiency
  • Support ad-hoc projects to improve fraud prevention efficacy and member experience

Education

  • Bachelor's degree preferred or equivalent practical experience
  • Relevant certifications or training in fraud, risk, or analytics a plus
