Risk Analyst

Check builds embedded payroll infrastructure that helps partners launch and scale payroll businesses. We’re looking for a detail-oriented Risk Analyst to investigate entities and transactions, own monitoring and company reviews, and partner with cross-functional teams to improve risk systems and reduce fraud.

Skills

  • 3-5 years experience in risk, fraud investigation, or fintech analytics
  • Strong investigative mindset and attention to detail
  • Ability to manage multiple cases and priorities simultaneously
  • Clear, professional written and verbal communication
  • Comfort working in a fast-paced, data-driven environment
  • Willingness to iterate on and refine processes
  • SQL experience is a plus but not required
  • Availability to work Pacific Time hours
  • Ability to attend an annual 3-day company offsite

Responsibilities

  • Own and execute company reviews, payroll monitoring, and investigation workflows end-to-end
  • Build, document, and maintain risk policies, playbooks, and standard operating procedures
  • Train teammates and partners on risk processes and best practices
  • Partner with Product & Engineering to improve risk tooling, detection, and case management
  • Escalate, document, and drive resolution of suspected fraud incidents with legal and ops
  • Communicate findings clearly to internal teams, partners, and customers
  • Identify process improvements and implement operational efficiencies

Education

  • Bachelor's degree or equivalent work experience
  • Degree in finance, economics, criminal justice, data analytics, or related field preferred
