Linux Administrator

Essential Functions

•             Linux Expertise: Strong knowledge of Linux operating systems (e.g., Red Hat, CentOS, Ubuntu) and the command-line interface (CLI).

•             Scripting: Proficiency in scripting languages like Bash, Python, or Perl for automation and system management.

•             Networking: Understanding of networking concepts, protocols (TCP/IP, DNS, DHCP), and services.

•             Security: Experience with security best practices, including firewall management, intrusion detection, and access control.

•             Virtualization: Familiarity with virtualization technologies like VMware or KVM.

•             Storage: Knowledge of storage technologies (RAID, SAN, NAS).

•             Database: Experience with databases like MySQL, PostgreSQL, or NoSQL databases.

•             Monitoring: Ability to use tools to monitor system performance and identify potential issues.

Soft Skills:

•             Problem-solving: Excellent troubleshooting and problem-solving skills.

•             Communication: Ability to communicate technical information to both technical and non-technical audiences.

•             Collaboration: Ability to work effectively in a team environment.

•             Time Management: Ability to prioritize tasks and manage time effectively, especially when dealing with urgent issues.

Education and Experience

·         System Installation and Configuration: Setting up and configuring Linux servers and workstations.

•             System Monitoring and Maintenance: Continuously monitoring system performance, applying updates, and performing backups.

•             Security Management: Implementing and maintaining security measures to protect systems and data.

•             User Management: Managing user accounts, permissions, and access control.

•             Troubleshooting: Identifying and resolving hardware, software, and network issues.

•             Documentation: Maintaining accurate and up-to-date documentation of system configurations and procedures.

•             Collaboration: Working with other IT staff to support and enhance the overall IT infrastructure.
