POSITION SUMMARY
Steamboat Ski & Resort’s Risk and Safety team is seeking a part-time coordinator for the upcoming winter season. This position runs from mid-October through late April and averages 15–20 hours per week

ESSENTIAL DUTIES
Visit all operation centers to provide hands-on assistance in identifying possible areas of exposure to our guests, employees and vendors, and work with management to address where possible.
Liaise with all departments to establish specific safety training needs, and facilitate where possible
Assist in the entry and administration of workers’ compensation claims, MVR checks, providing accident reports and other administrative tasks assigned
Communicate with guests of the resort regarding the safety culture of the resort and their safety concerns, providing excellent customer service
Be involved in workers compensation and guest incident investigation
Assist with the coordination of safety and wellness programs
Work closely with legal counsel representing SSRC with regards to GL claims as needed
Facilitate the introduction and acceptance of new safety policies and procedures and technologies with user group
Work with Resort Safety Communicators
Assist with snowmobile training, first aid training and other certifications as needed
Compliance with all company policies and procedures as well as any regulatory requirement
Other duties as assigned
REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS
Minimum 5 years previous ski area operations experience, preferred
2 years of previous work/education required
Must be able to communicate verbally and in written form in a clear, concise, professional and tactful manner
Risk management and/or compliance experience a plus but not required
Degree in business administration or industrial hygiene helpful
Knowledge of workers’ compensation, SDS, and OSHA requirements
Must be proficient with Microsoft Office software including Excel, Word, PowerPoint, Outlook
Must have valid driver’s license, pass motor vehicle background check and meet company insurability standards
Ability to be on-call as needs arise
Positive, solution-oriented individual with ability to exercise good judgment skills; Is supportive of established policies
Possesses the highest levels of personal and professional integrity and honesty, can manage and handling material of confidential nature; will abide by corporate privacy policies
Professional in appearance and will adhere to company grooming guidelines
Organized in tasks, sees projects through, and has good follow-through
Communicate clearly in English, both verbal / non-verbal, and written
Interact and maintain positive relationships with guests, co-workers and management consistent with Steamboat Ski and Resort Company’s Service Excellence standards

EDUCATION REQUIREMENTS
High school diploma or equivalent.
The base hourly pay range below represents the low and high end of the Steamboat Ski & Resort Corporation’s hourly pay range for this position. Actual pay will vary and may be above or below the range based on various factors including but not limited to experience, education, training, location, merit system, quantity or quality of production, responsibilities, and regular and/or necessary travel. The range listed is just one component of Steamboat Ski & Resort Corporation’s total compensation package for employees. Other rewards may include many region-specific benefits.
Steamboat Springs area base hourly pay range: $21.00 - $26.00 per hour
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS
Must be minimum 18 years of age
Must be able to work outdoors for extended periods in all weather conditions
Ability to ski or ride at advanced level, on various surfaces, often in inclement weather
May include climbing, lifting, pushing, balancing, kneeling, sitting, standing, etc.
