Staff Technical Account Manager

Affirm is a consumer finance company reinventing credit to be more honest and user-friendly, enabling buy-now-pay-later solutions without hidden fees. The Staff Technical Account Manager will serve as the primary technical lead for key merchants in a new geography, guiding integration, implementation, troubleshooting, and ongoing product optimization while collaborating closely with product, engineering, operations, and commercial teams.

Skills

  • 7+ years in client-facing technical roles (TAM, Solutions Engineer, Sales Engineer, Integration Engineer) in SaaS/FinTech preferred
  • Deep understanding of RESTful APIs, webhooks, and HTTP; experience using API testing tools such as Postman
  • Ability to read and understand production-level code (HTML, JavaScript, SQL) and familiarity with at least one server-side language (e.g., Python)
  • Strong knowledge of modern web and mobile architecture, SDKs, and client-server models
  • Proven troubleshooting skills using browser dev tools, log analysis (e.g., Snowflake, Chronosphere), and ticketing platforms (e.g., Jira, Notion)
  • Excellent written and verbal communication, with ability to translate business goals into technical solutions
  • Project management and cross-functional coordination experience

Responsibilities

  • Act as the primary technical lead for a portfolio of key merchant accounts in a new geography, building trust with developer and product counterparts.
  • Project manage merchant integrations and post-launch expansion initiatives, using and improving implementation guides, playbooks, troubleshooting flows, and UAT plans.
  • Collaborate with Commercial counterparts to define account strategy, identify opportunities, and participate in solution selling to prospects.
  • Provide ongoing technical support across the customer lifecycle, rapidly triaging and resolving critical issues and coordinating cross-functional teams to remediate complex problems.
  • Convey product and engineering feedback from merchant interactions and contribute to iterative product improvements.

Education

  • Bachelor’s degree in a related field or equivalent practical experience
  • Degree in a technical major (Computer Science, Engineering, Mathematics) or bootcamp graduation is a plus
