Job Details:
UTeach at UT Austin includes the innovative UTeach Natural Sciences teacher preparation program, a national expansion effort for that program, teacher professional development, and several local STEM education initiatives, all supporting the improvement of STEM education and the public education system overall.
To foster student success and engagement within the UTeach Program by leading strategic recruitment and retention initiatives, providing comprehensive academic advising across multiple degree paths, and managing scholarship processes. Through collaborative event planning, student organization advising, and targeted outreach, this role supports the development of future STEM educators and strengthens the UTeach community.
Student Recruitment and Retention: Plan and manage recruitment and retention strategies. Supervise a team of student employees. Serve as the advisor for the UTeach student organization, Math and Science Teachers of Tomorrow (MASTT). Work with student organizations and faculty to present to their groups and courses about the program. Work with faculty members to survey students who do not continue in the program. Conduct UTeach classroom visits to answer questions and help students navigate the next steps in the program. Event Planning: Plan and facilitate UTeach recruitment and retention initiatives including information sessions, tabling, classroom visits, and community building events.
Advise students throughout the UTeach Program in multiple degree paths. Maintain knowledge of CNS and university-wide degree plans, audits, and registration procedures.
Scholarships: Coordinate the scholarship lifecycle process: marketing, application, selection, notification, processing, and thank you letters.
Bachelor’s degree and at least 5 years experience in program administration or program coordination.
Exceptional written and verbal communication skills, with confidence presenting to large audiences.
Proven experience creating compelling written and digital content for social media.
Strong ability to work independently while managing multiple projects and incorporating feedback effectively.
Detail-oriented with excellent organizational skills, a positive attitude, and a fast learning curve.
Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Office suite.
Reliable and punctual, with a commitment to providing outstanding customer service.
Relevant education and experience may be substituted as appropriate.
Masters degree in relevant field
Experience with student recruitment activities.
$55,000 + depending on qualifications
Will include some evening and weekend hours
Work in typical office space, including repetitive use of a keyboard
Occasionally lift and move boxes up to 50 pounds.
Office is located on a floor with active teaching labs that contain biological and chemical hazards.
