About the Role
Our Client is seeking an experienced Senior Project Manager to oversee complex mechanical
construction projects from planning to completion. This is a hands-on leadership role requiring
expertise in construction management, strong communication skills, and the ability to drive
results while ensuring compliance with safety and quality standards.
Key Responsibilities
● Project Planning & Execution
○ Evaluate project specifications to establish procedures, schedules, and staffing
requirements.
○ Procure subcontractors, tools, equipment, and materials to align with project
timelines.
○ Direct supervisory personnel and subcontractors to ensure adherence to
specifications and prevent delays.
● Leadership & Supervision
○ Communicate strategy, budgets, goals, and expectations to project staff.
○ Provide guidance and coaching to Assistant Project Managers and Project
Managers, ensuring they receive support and resources.
○ Establish and monitor individual and group accountabilities and performance
goals.
● Project Oversight
○ Inspect work to ensure quality and adherence to construction schedules.
○ Work with labor representatives to resolve complaints and grievances.
○ Manage change order requests and document all job delays, problems, and
conflicts.
● Financial Management
○ Prepare and monitor job cost reports weekly; analyze deviations and provide
explanations.
○ Prepare project billings and follow up on outstanding payments.
○ Ensure costs align with budgets, adjusting schedules as necessary.
● Reporting & Documentation
○ Prepare reports on progress, materials used, and costs.
○ Initiate and manage correspondence with subcontractors, engineers, architects,
and owners.
○ Prepare final project documentation including manuals, warranties, and lien
waivers.
● Compliance & Coordination
○ Conduct activities within federal, state, and local environmental regulations.
○ Schedule deliveries and assist with labor projections.
○ Ensure compliance with SPC practices and industry standards.
Qualifications
● Bachelor’s degree (B.A.) in Construction Management, Engineering, or related field (or
equivalent combination of education and experience).
● 1–2 years of related experience and/or training; extensive experience in project
management preferred.
● Current driver’s license required; HVAC/Plumbing license is a plus.
● Ability to travel at least 50% of the time.
Knowledge, Skills & Abilities
● Strong ability to read and interpret construction documents.
● Effective written and verbal communication, including report writing and presenting to
groups.
● Problem-solving skills with the ability to handle complex variables and resolve issues on
the spot.
● Proficient in interpreting and applying mathematical concepts (geometry, trigonometry,
probability, statistical inference).
● Capable of managing multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment.
Salary & Compensation – Wendell, NC Market
● Estimated Base Salary Range: $105,000 – $135,000 annually
○ Based on market data for Senior Project Managers in construction in North
Carolina, with Wendell’s cost of living factored in.
Total compensation may include bonuses tied to project performance and
company results.
Additional Information
● This role is 100% onsite and requires frequent travel (50% or more).
● Candidates must be able to lift up to 25 lbs as part of occasional site duties.
