About the Role
Our client is seeking an AML Surveillance Manager to lead their Financial Intelligence Unit
(FIU). This role will oversee transaction monitoring, investigations, and suspicious activity
reporting across both crypto and traditional finance operations. The manager will be responsible for operational excellence, regulatory compliance, and strengthening defenses against financial crime.
Responsibilities
● Lead all AML workflows, including transaction monitoring, investigations, and SAR
filings.
● Act as Transaction Monitoring Model Owner; design, calibrate, and document system
rules.
● Oversee escalations from law enforcement, regulators, and sanctions screening.
● Manage case assignments, deadlines, and investigative quality assurance.
● Prepare and file regulatory reports with accuracy and timeliness.
● Report AML metrics, typologies, and system performance to senior leadership.
● Conduct ongoing surveillance of digital asset risks including stablecoin ecosystems.
● Partner cross-functionally to support audits, exams, and program enhancements.
Qualifications
● 5+ years AML compliance or FIU experience in fintech, crypto, or financial services.
● Hands-on expertise with monitoring platforms (Elliptic, TRM Labs, Unit21 or similar).
● Strong knowledge of SAR/STR obligations, sanctions screening, and AML enforcement
requirements.
● Proven experience managing investigations teams and workflows.
● Data-driven mindset with model calibration and validation experience.
● Excellent communication and ability to collaborate across technical and compliance
functions.
