The Department of Marine Resources announces a vacancy for an Office Associate II located in West Boothbay Harbor, Maine.

Salary: $17.69 - $25.47 Per Hour*

*(This includes a 2.25% Salary Adjustment)

BRIEF JOB DESCRIPTION: This is an office support position that involves extensive outreach with harvesters. The position’s primary responsibilities include but are not limited to:

  • Contacting harvesters to explain reporting requirements
  • Assisting harvesters who have submitted incomplete reports or who have failed to report
  • Assisting with training harvesters with electronic reporting programs
  • Assisting with data audits
  • Opening and processing mail
  • Answering phone calls from industry 
  • Entering data and covering other office related duties as needed.

This position is critical in keeping the workflow of the Landings Program moving and will work closely with the Licensing Division and Landings Program staff. Strong communication and organizational skills are a must. Knowledge of relational database structure and implementation, along with experience in Microsoft Access is preferred. Work is performed under limited supervision.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS: Training, education, or experience in office and administrative support work that demonstrates 1) competency in applying a solid knowledge of modern office practices to perform complex, varied office support tasks, and 2) the ability to use independent decision-making on the appropriate processes to follow, information to process, and actions to take in accordance with standard procedures.  All positions in this classification assume the qualifications of: Office Assistant I, Office Assistant II, and Office Associate I.

  • Dental Insurance – The State of Maine pays 100% of employee-only dental premiums ($365.28 annual value). 
  • Retirement Plan – The State of Maine contributes 14.11% of pay to the Maine Public Employees Retirement System (MainePERS), on behalf of the employee.  
  • Gym Membership Reimbursement – Improve overall health with regular exercise and receive up to $40 per month to offset this expense. 
  • Health and Dependent Care Flexible Spending Accounts – Set aside money pre-tax to help pay for out-of-pocket health care expenses and/or daycare expenses.
