College Board – Operations

Location: This is a fully remote role. Candidates who live near CB offices have the option of being fully remote or hybrid (Tuesday and Wednesday in office).

Type: This is a full-time position

About the Team

The College Board Operations division manages the digital test delivery process for millions of students each year. Our Assessment Delivery Operations (ADO) team is primarily responsible for managing and overseeing the successful execution of digital assessments like the SAT and Advanced Placement examinations. Among its many responsibilities, ADO ensures that test sites meet security and network requirements, test proctors are credentialed and trained to administer tests consistently and fairly, students arrive on test day with the correct documents and testing materials, and that testing issues are promptly addressed. Our team plays a critical and essential role in the success of students and educators before, during, and after test day. And due to its central role in supporting College Board’s mission, ADO works closely with partners and stakeholders across College Board, the education sector, and beyond to shape and improve testing technologies, customer experience, and testing outcomes.

About the Opportunity

As Executive Director, Recruiting & Readiness for Digital Delivery, you will lead and manage the team responsible for recruiting, onboarding, and preparing students and educators to successfully engage with our assessments both in school and at test centers around the world. To ensure that every student has a consistent testing experience, your team will work closely and at-scale with our educational partners. Your team will achieve this objective by proactively connecting educators with digital trainings and resources, monitoring the completion of required materials and pre-test process steps, and working to expand test day seating capacity to match student demand.

As the team leader, you’ll be responsible for overseeing the execution of the operational processes that ensure our customers are ready to test. You’ll guide staff efforts to recruit new test centers, including K-12 schools, higher educational institutions, non-profit organizations, and commercial spaces, with a sharp focus on test center retention and sustainability. You’ll help your teams develop new methods for supporting educator participation in offering our assessments and work closely with ADO leadership to develop new partnerships. You'll help shape and re-define our recruitment, training, and other pre-test pipelines to minimize test day issues, improve efficiency, and maximize customer satisfaction by eliminating unnecessary process steps and better meeting customer needs. As a result, you’ll redefine test day success for millions of students and educators each year, saving them time, improving their experience, and ensuring a smooth customer journey across our operational processes.

In this role, you will:

Lead and Manage the Recruiting & Readiness for Digital Delivery Team (50%)

  • Lead teams responsible for recruiting, onboarding, and preparing our testing partners across multiple digital testing events each year.
  • Set vision and priorities for the team, track and manage progress to goals, and provide coaching and support to ensure team members meet and exceed goals, remain engaged, and contribute meaningfully to our mission.
  • Cultivate an inclusive and high achieving culture that enables all team members to live out College Board’s Operating Principles.
  • Bring proven leadership experience and consistently embody College Board’s Manager Expectations in your work.
  • Help staff to set ambitious but obtainable goals tied to customer success; ensuring that teams understand the key role they play in student and educator success.
  • Work with ADO analytic teams, finance, data science, and testing program partners to identify test day demand; adapting goals, strategies, and processes to meet changing student, educator, and stakeholder needs.
  • Reinforce a digital-first approach to problem solving, emphasize the central role of data in operations decisions, and apply contemporary approaches to scaled outreach and support with customers.
  • Seek and synthesize insights from customers, stakeholders, and other key partners to help guide team efforts to streamline and simplify processes and improve customer success.

Building Test Day Capacity (25%)

  • Oversee the execution of test center, coordinator, and other testing staff recruitment—working closely with customer experience stakeholders to adapt team targets and strategy to meet new goals.
  • Set standards for effective customer outreach, engagement strategies, and performance expectations to optimize recruiting and retention campaigns.
  • Work closely with programmatic stakeholders to set reasonable expectations, share operational realities and constraints, and proactively surface emerging performance trends.
  • Rely on commercial partners, analysis, and digital solutions to expand reach and test day capacity domestically and abroad. Ensure teams proactively target growth to minimize costs and risks of unmet demand.

Redefining Test Day Readiness (25%)

  • Develop strategy to reimagine the customer journey from initial interest to test day. Focus your teams on a smooth customer journey, minimizing touchpoints while maximizing test day success.
  • Oversee the development and execution of outreach communications to facilitate the timely completion of pre-test requirements by customers—guiding your teams through the process of measuring and improving communications to maximize customer activity and satisfaction.
  • Coordinate with program teams, digital product, and customer experience partners to assess the need for training, facility, and timeline improvements across the test day readiness pipeline.
  • Work with stakeholders across the organization to shape a comprehensive customer journey, drive customer experience improvements, and deconflict messaging strategies.

About you, you have:

  • 10+ years of experience leading complex analysis in high-stakes environments (Experience in education, strategy, sales, operations, and/or technology is preferred).
  • A strategic and inclusive leadership style: you set clear priorities, build effective team structures, plan for future needs, and foster a culture of belonging.
  • A proven ability to drive performance and growth: you set high expectations, deliver real-time, evidence-based feedback, and coach team members to take smart risks, stretch their skills, and achieve meaningful impact.
  • Familiarity and comfort with digital engagement, communications, and marketing best practices.
  • Strong analytic skills and a demonstrated ability to use data to guide decision-making.
  • An ability to thrive in a fast-paced, high-stakes, and dynamic environment.
  • Strong strategic thinking skills that allow you to connect the dots, capture opportunities, frame ambiguous problems, and deliver innovative solutions.
  • Experience improving business outcomes, managing diverse stakeholders, and working with technical and non-technical staff & partners.
  • Experience leading successful high-visibility and high-impact projects.
  • A bachelor’s or graduate degree in business, marketing, or a similar field.
  • Must be able to travel at least 6-8 times per year
  • You are authorized to work in the US
