Responsibilities
- Supervise and coach a team of three Safety Officers, set priorities, and manage performance
- Develop, implement, and maintain Utility-wide safety policies and procedures meeting OSHA, DOT, and TCEQ standards
- Design, coordinate, and deliver safety training programs for employees
- Conduct safety audits and inspections, prepare reports, and drive corrective actions
- Lead incident investigations and follow-up to prevent recurrence
- Evaluate and continuously improve safety programs and initiatives
- Participate in budgeting, planning, and contract monitoring related to safety resources
- Support on-call safety response during emergencies as needed
Education
- Bachelor’s degree in safety management, occupational health and safety, or a closely related field
- Possession of a safety credential (GSP, ASP, CSP, CHST, MSP, CSD, etc.) or ability to obtain within one year
- Candidates without the formal degree may be considered with substantial relevant experience
