Job Description:

The Audit Director, Workforce Management and Process Excellence is responsible for assisting with Internal Audit strategy development and delivery, leveraging the transformation and change program required to ensure TD's Audit function is set up for success and ensure execution and delivery against all program workstreams. The role also includes the People Strategy component and workforce management initiatives to ensure we have adequate human resources to support the Global Audit Strategy.

Depth & Scope:

  • Provides people management leadership by hiring the best talent, setting goals, developing staff, managing employee performance and compensation decisions, promoting teamwork and handling any/all disciplinary actions, as required
  • Provides input into the development and coordinates execution of the Global Audit Strategy
  • Establishes and implements workforce management capabilities across Audit
  • Assists with the establishment, coordination and implementation of a Global Change Management strategy
  • Coordinates with the AVP, Transformation Office to deliver on strategic priorities, including ongoing monitoring, reporting and escalation of key deliverables
  • Manages and tracks all stages of delivery of commitments, from initiation, execution through to completion and internal / external validation
  • Provides timely and effective communication and reporting on the program status, analysis and findings to internal and external stakeholders, including to SET and the Board
  • Has the ability to influence partners toward solutions while ensuring appropriate transparency, reporting and escalation
  • Understand, align and manage cross-functional interdependencies (including with other Audit Strong, Enterprise RTS and Audit/Enterprise benchmarking initiatives)
  • Provides support in alleviating roadblocks throughout all stages of delivery
  • Assists in formulating recommendations regarding delivery approach after consultation with key stakeholder groups on estimated effort, resource availability, cross-program dependencies and other implementation constraints
  • Escalates issues and risks to effectively drive delivery
  • Builds positive, diverse and open work environment by continually improving the efficiency, sharing deep knowledge and skills, and encouraging the team to deliver results
  • Attracts, develops and retains talent through defined processes, strong relationships and direct oversight
  • Communicates a clear & compelling vision; engender followership

Education & Experience:

  • Undergraduate degree required; Post Graduate degree preferred
  • 15+ years related experience
  • Previous experience developing and executing on strategies and delivering superior results in both the short and long term
  • Previous experience delivering best-in-class change programs in a large complex global organization (Financial Services experience is beneficial)
  • Proven ability in leveraging deep subject matter expertise to align teams to a central vision, while also listening and engaging others to provide input in the shaping of that vision
  • Strong people management skills with demonstrated experience in leading high performing teams, proven ability to manage and motivate a diverse group of professionals, the ability to effectively work in teams across the bank with multiple stakeholders, and to influence and align others
  • Strong collaborator who engages colleagues, business partners, external stakeholders, and employees
  • Strong presentation and facilitation skills and strong interpersonal and leadership skills to facilitate working with senior management at all levels
  • Skillful communication (written and verbal), negotiation, and partnership skills to balance stakeholder input but remains objective to reach the right outcome - ability to stay resilient under pressure
  • Demonstrated relationship building skills; able to make things happen through the use of positive influence
  • Expertise in working effectively in teams – requires a track record of working cross-organizationally and with multiple stakeholders at varying levels
