Head of FP&A

About Stand

Stand is a new technology and insurance company revolutionizing how society assesses, mitigates, and adapts to climate risks. Our leadership team has extensive experience in insurance, technology, and climate science: building billions in market value at prior ventures. At Stand, we are rethinking how insurance enables proactive, science-driven resilience.

Existing insurance models often rely on broad exclusions, leaving homeowners without options. At Stand, we leverage advanced deterministic models and cutting-edge analytics to provide personalized risk assessments—helping homeowners secure coverage and take proactive steps toward resilience.

Role Summary: As Head of FP&A at Stand Insurance, you will own all financial planning, forecasting, budgeting, and performance analysis across the business. You’ll partner closely with the executive team to provide actionable insights, ensure financial discipline, and support data-driven decision-making. This is a hands-on role in a fast-scaling Series B Insurtech, ideal for someone who can operate at both a strategic and tactical level.

Core Responsibilities:

  • Own financial planning, forecasting, and performance tracking across the company

  • Partner with the CEO and department heads to align financial plans with strategic priorities

  • Architect and optimize the financial data environment to reduce manual processes and enhance real-time analytics across the platform

  • Design, build, and maintain dynamic reporting tools and dashboards (Power BI, Tableau, Excel, etc.) to track revenue, margin, expenses, KPIs, and business performance

  • Develop and maintain models for revenue, expense, and cash flow forecasting

  • Create and deliver monthly, quarterly, and annual reports for leadership and the board

  • Lead annual budgeting processes and ongoing budget-to-actuals analysis

  • Provide scenario modeling to guide decision-making in uncertain or dynamic market conditions

  • Oversee implementation and optimization of finance systems and processes

  • Ensure compliance with all relevant financial regulations and audit requirements

Must-Have Qualifications:

  • 8+ years of progressive finance experience with deep FP&A expertise, ideally in high-growth, venture-backed companies

  • Proven ability to build forecasting models, budgets, and dashboards from scratch in a fast-paced environment

  • Exceptional analytical skills with a track record of translating complex data into clear, actionable business recommendations

  • Strong understanding of SaaS- or insurance-related financial drivers, including unit economics and risk-based revenue models

  • Advanced Excel/Google Sheets skills and familiarity with modern FP&A tools

  • Comfort working cross-functionally and directly with executive teams and boards

Nice-to-Have Qualifications:

  • Experience in insurance, lending, or other regulated industries

  • Familiarity with climate risk models, catastrophe modeling, or property insurance underwriting metrics

  • Prior role supporting Series B+ funding stages or scaling from $20M to $100M+ revenue

  • Exposure to capital planning, treasury, or reinsurance structures (even if not owning them directly)
