Senior Financial Analyst, Marketing

Description

Sprout Social is looking to hire a Senior Financial Analyst, Marketing on the FP&A team to support the Marketing organization. This high-impact individual contributor role will serve as a key bridge between Finance and Marketing leadership—enabling data-backed decision-making, optimizing spend and resourcing, and driving accountability around performance metrics. You’ll serve as a strategic partner to our Chief Marketing Officer and Marketing leadership team, playing a critical role in aligning financial decisions with our marketing strategy and long-term growth objectives.

Why join Sprout’s Finance team?

As a member of Sprout’s finance team, you’ll help better position Sprout for future growth while maintaining compliance and integrity at the highest level. Regardless of your role, everyone on the team has the opportunity to contribute to creating best-in-class processes and practices that can scale with the organization. Our team is unique because we value transparency and direct ownership of responsibilities—meaning, you’ll always have our trust to help contribute to our overall goals and success as a department and organization.

What you’ll do

  • Act as a strategic finance partner to the Marketing team, helping align budgets, resources, and investments with business goals.
  • Lead marketing-related planning processes, including annual budgeting, monthly re-forecasting, and spend tracking.
  • Monitor and analyze spend efficiency across channels and initiatives, identifying areas for improvement and cost optimization.
  • Develop and maintain financial models, dashboards, and forecasts to evaluate campaign ROI, CAC, CLTV, CPL, and more.
  • Present actionable insights and performance summaries to senior leadership, influencing strategic decisions with clear financial rationale.
  • Collaborate cross-functionally with Marketing Senior Leadership, Procurement, our Chief of Staff, Ops, Analytics, and Accounting teams to ensure financial accuracy and measurement consistency.
  • Build processes and frameworks that enhance marketing controllership, visibility, and operational agility.

What you’ll bring

You’re comfortable navigating ambiguity and solving complex, unstructured problems with a structured, analytical mindset. You thrive in fast-paced, high-growth environments, managing multiple priorities with focus and agility. With excellent communication and presentation skills, you’re able to translate data into insights and influence cross-functional partners, including non-financial stakeholders. You bring a strategic perspective while maintaining a strong attention to detail, and you’re motivated by the opportunity to build scalable processes that enable smarter, data-driven decisions.

Minimum Qualifications

  • 4+ years of experience in Financial Planning & Analysis (FP&A), preferably with a focus on Marketing, Sales, or Revenue Operations
  • Strong background in financial modeling, forecasting, and performance analysis
  • Deep understanding of key marketing metrics (e.g., CAC, ROI, CPL, CLTV) and ability to contextualize them within the broader business
  • Proficiency with Excel, Tableau, and other financial systems (e.g., Anaplan, Adaptive Insights, Vena)

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience with SQL or data visualization tools (e.g. Lookr or Hex), marketing analytics platforms (e.g. Marketo Measure, GA4, Adobe Analytics), Salesforce, or financial planning tools (e.g. Vena)
  • Familiarity with digital campaign performance metrics and marketing attribution models
  • Prior exposure to executive-level reporting and strategic finance partnership

How you’ll grow

Within 1 month, you’ll plant your roots, including:

  • Complete onboarding and immerse yourself in our business model, marketing strategy, and financial processes
  • Understand our marketing tech stack, core KPIs, and stakeholder landscape
  • Shadow key planning and reporting meetings to build context
  • Begin to assess current marketing spend frameworks and identify early optimization opportunities

Within 3 months, you’ll start hitting your stride by:

  • Own marketing spend forecasting and budget tracking across multiple channels
  • Collaborate with marketing leaders to evaluate campaign performance and refine KPIs
  • Deliver your first set of insights and recommendations that influence channel or budget strategies
  • Establish baseline marketing ROI reporting, QBRs, dashboards, and financial models

Within 6 months, you’ll be making a clear impact through:

  • Serve as the go-to finance contact for Marketing leadership
  • Lead quarterly planning and forecasting for the marketing budget
  • Identify process improvements or automation opportunities in spend tracking and reporting
  • Drive alignment between Finance, Sales, and Marketing Ops around key metrics and attribution strategies

Within 12 months, you’ll make this role your own by:

  • Surprise us! Use your financial acumen and business intuition to uncover insights and opportunities we haven’t yet explored
  • Inform long-range planning scenarios that help Marketing scale smarter
  • Lead cost optimization initiatives and track their impact on performance
  • Establish yourself as a strategic partner trusted to guide high-level decisions across the business

Of course, what is outlined above is the ideal timeline, but things may shift based on business needs, and other projects and tasks could be added at the discretion of your manager.

Sprout maintains a remote workforce in many places in the United States. However, we are not set up in all states, so please look at the drop-down box in our application to see whether your state is listed. Few roles require an office setting. If your position requires a physical presence in a Sprout office, it will be evident in the job listing and your offer letter.

Individual base pay is based on various factors, including work location, relevant experience and skills, the responsibility of the role, and job duties/requirements. In the United States, we have two geographic pay zones. For this role, our current base pay ranges for new hires are:

Zone 1 (NY, CA, Seattle) Min $99,760, Mid $124,700, Max $137,170
Zone 2 (All other states) Min $90,700, Mid $113,400, Max $124,740

The listed ranges represent the full earning potential in this position. Starting salaries for well-qualified new hires are typically around the midpoint of the range. These ranges were determined by a market-based compensation approach; we used data from trusted third-party compensation sources to set equitable, consistent, and competitive ranges. We also evaluate compensation bi-annually, identify any changes in the market and make adjustments to our ranges and existing employee compensation as needed.

Base pay is only one element of an employee's total compensation at Sprout. Every Sprout team member has an opportunity to receive restricted stock units (RSUs) under Sprout’s equity plan. Employees (and their dependents) are covered by medical, dental, vision, basic life, accidental death, and dismemberment insurance, and Modern Health (a wellness benefit).  Employees are able to enroll in Sprout’s company’s 401k plan, in which Sprout will match 50% of your contributions up to 6% with a maximum contribution. Sprout offers “Flexible Paid Time Off” and ten paid holidays. We have outlined the various components to an employee’s full compensation package here to help you to understand our total rewards package.
