Skills
- Proficiency in CAD (NX, CATIA, ProE) for modeling and manufacturing drawings
- Experience performing finite element analysis (FEA)
- Ability to perform thermal and mechanical analysis using tools like ANSYS/NASTRAN/ABAQUS
- Familiarity with GD&T and producing manufacturing-ready drawings
- Basic programming for engineering tasks (Python, MATLAB, C/C++)
- Cross-disciplinary understanding of mechatronics and electrical fundamentals
- Strong collaboration, ownership, and problem-solving capabilities
- Willingness to work extended hours and weekends for critical milestones
Responsibilities
- Design, prototype, test, and qualify mechanical assemblies through iterative development cycles.
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams on payload electromechanical interfaces from full satellite scale to PCB-level details.
- Partner with internal and external manufacturing to scale designs into high-volume, cost-effective production.
- Perform mechanical analysis (hand calculations to FEA) to support design trades and decision-making.
- Own execution and outcomes across design, development, testing, qualification, and launch milestones.
Education
- Bachelor’s degree in an engineering discipline (required)
- Relevant coursework or projects in mechanical design, FEA, and thermal analysis (preferred)
