VP, Business Development

Skyryse is building an industry-first universal operating system for flight (SkyOS) and a production aircraft (Skyryse One) to greatly improve aviation safety and accessibility. The VP of Business Development will report to the CEO and lead business development efforts across commercial, OEM, and DoD markets, driving strategic partnerships, contract wins, and revenue growth while managing a high-performing BD team.

Skills

  • 10+ years business development experience in Aerospace & Defense
  • 5+ years direct experience working with DoD contracts
  • Proven track record selling to OEMs, commercial customers, and defense contractors
  • Strong sales strategy and revenue growth expertise
  • Deep knowledge of aerospace ecosystem, suppliers, and regulatory frameworks
  • Exceptional negotiation and influencing skills
  • Excellent communication, presentation, and stakeholder management
  • Project and proposal management experience
  • Experience with international markets and government engagement

Responsibilities

  • Lead and grow the Business Development team to identify, pursue, and close new opportunities across DoD, OEM, and commercial markets
  • Develop and execute a comprehensive sales and market expansion strategy to drive revenue and market penetration
  • Serve as primary company liaison to DoD and OEM partners, building strategic relationships and ensuring alignment with partner objectives
  • Lead initiatives to pursue and secure defense contracts and align efforts with DoD acquisition strategies
  • Provide regulatory and compliance guidance related to defense contracting and mitigate associated risks
  • Conduct in-depth market analysis to identify trends, threats, and new growth opportunities
  • Lead major proposal development efforts and coordinate cross-functional inputs for successful submissions
  • Collaborate with internal teams to evaluate and negotiate partnership agreements
  • Monitor and enhance team performance, implementing productivity and effectiveness improvements
  • Represent the company at industry events and travel as needed to meet partners and stakeholders

Education

  • Professional degree (required)
  • Degree in Business, Marketing, or Finance (preferred)
