Sales Engineer

Redwood Materials is building a localized, circular battery supply chain focused on recovery, reuse, and recycling to accelerate the energy transition. The Sales Engineer – Energy Storage will design and deliver technical sales tools, develop early concept designs and layouts, and work closely with business development and engineering teams to translate customer needs into executable utility-scale battery energy storage project plans.

Skills

  • Deep knowledge of BESS techno-economics (degradation, warranties, availability, cost drivers)
  • Hands-on experience building tools in Python, Excel, R, or similar
  • Experience creating concepts and SLDs in AutoCAD, Bluebeam, or similar CAD tools
  • Proven track record working directly with customers to scope, price, and close complex projects
  • Familiarity with NFPA, UL, and product certification requirements for U.S. customers
  • Understanding of front-of- and behind-the-meter value drivers across U.S. markets
  • Strong written and verbal communication and documentation skills
  • Comfort operating in a fast-paced, startup environment

Responsibilities

  • Build and maintain technical sales tools and repeatable internal/external processes
  • Model configuration tradeoffs (layout, energy density, performance, distribution) to optimize customer value
  • Produce early concept designs, block diagrams, single-line diagrams (SLDs), and preliminary layouts to support sales
  • Support RFP responses, pricing development, and incentive eligibility strategies
  • Collaborate closely with business development and engineering teams to scope and execute projects
  • Leverage professional networks to drive inbound interest and opportunities
  • Document solutions and processes to ensure scalability

Education

  • Bachelor’s degree in engineering, business, or related field (required)
  • Advanced degree in a related field (preferred)
