Payroll Manager

Sidecar Health is a mission-driven healthcare company working to make high-quality care affordable and transparent. The Payroll Lead will own multi-entity, multi-state payroll operations, ensure compliance, reconcile accounts, and build scalable payroll systems to support a rapidly growing team.

Skills

  • 5+ years payroll processing experience with multi-entity and multi-state payroll
  • Deep knowledge of payroll compliance, tax regulations, and GAAP
  • Advanced Excel proficiency and experience with payroll systems (ADP preferred)
  • Experience with salary, hourly, and commission payroll calculations
  • Strong analytical, reconciliation, and problem-solving abilities
  • Excellent cross-functional communication and stakeholder management

Responsibilities

  • Process timely and accurate payroll for salary, hourly, and commission-based employees across multiple entities
  • Manage end-to-end payroll operations including data entry, calculations, deductions, and reporting
  • Ensure compliance with federal, state, and local payroll regulations and GAAP standards
  • Reconcile payroll accounts, resolve discrepancies, and maintain financial accuracy
  • Prepare and review bi-monthly payroll inputs including salary changes, taxes, deductions, garnishments, and new hires
  • Collaborate with HR, Finance, and other teams to ensure aligned payroll processes
  • Maintain and optimize payroll systems and workflows for efficiency and scalability
  • Manage census reporting and support month-end and year-end payroll activities, tax filings, and audits
  • Track and audit accrued leave balances and other payroll-related records
  • Respond to employee payroll inquiries and provide internal customer service
  • Prepare detailed payroll reports and analytics for leadership

Education

  • Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field preferred
  • Payroll certification (CPP or similar) a plus
