Skills
- Electrical systems and circuit design (discrete and integrated circuits)
- Power electronics and power system design for spacecraft
- Familiarity with communication buses: RS-422, SPI, Ethernet, CAN
- PCB schematic capture and PCBA layout workflows
- Signal integrity, grounding and EMI/EMC considerations
- Design for radiation tolerance and space environmental constraints
- Experience with design verification, test planning and production-level documentation
- Knowledge of export control and ITAR requirements
Responsibilities
- Lead and mentor a team of avionics/electrical engineers, including performance management and hiring support
- Own end-to-end avionics subsystem designs (power, flight computers, telemetry, thermal control, propulsion control, payload interfaces)
- Plan and manage project schedules to ensure on-time hardware delivery to programs
- Define avionics architecture and technical roadmap; propose improvements and prototype efforts
- Scope work, estimate timelines and resource needs for new product development and proposals
- Ensure designs meet industry standards, regulatory and export control requirements (e.g., ITAR)
- Coordinate cross-functional integration, testing, procurement and production activities
- Implement processes to improve design flow, documentation and team communication
Education
- Bachelor's degree in Electrical, Aerospace, Computer Engineering or related engineering field (required)
- Master’s or PhD in a related field (preferred)
