Staff Civil Engineer 2

This role offers the opportunity to work on advanced pavement engineering projects, supporting transportation infrastructure and research initiatives. As part of a dynamic, collaborative team, you will contribute to mechanistic modeling, materials evaluation, and innovative design solutions for complex pavement systems. You’ll be involved in all stages of project execution—from research and analysis to reporting and field testing—while collaborating with experts to develop practical, high-quality solutions. The ideal candidate enjoys solving challenging technical problems, taking ownership of tasks, and applying strong analytical and coding skills in a remote, flexible environment.

• Accountabilities:
• Lead or contribute to projects in varying roles, including project engineer, task leader, and subject matter expert.
• Conduct research, perform data analysis, and generate high-quality reports and innovative solutions for pavement engineering challenges.
• Develop mechanistic models of pavements, analyze novel materials, and evaluate infrastructure performance.
• Manage tasks independently to ensure projects are completed on time and within budget.
• Participate in field testing and occasional travel as required.
• Contribute to business development activities, including proposal writing, marketing, and presenting technical findings at meetings and conferences.
• Engage in continuous improvement by sharing knowledge, best practices, and professional development initiatives.
• Collaborate effectively with team members while maintaining professionalism and a positive attitude.
• Requirements:
• Master’s degree or higher in Civil Engineering, with a focus on pavement engineering.
• Strong understanding of pavement materials, mechanistic analysis, and geotechnical engineering related to transportation infrastructure.
• Proficiency in coding languages and mechanistic modeling of pavements.
• Knowledge of statistics and data analysis; experience with statistical software is a plus.
• Strong written and verbal communication, organizational skills, and professional presentation abilities.
• U.S. citizenship and DoD security clearance or ability to obtain within 60 days of hire.
• Experience in research, publication in peer-reviewed journals, and presenting at conferences is a plus.
