Director, Operations

Redwood Materials is building a domestic battery materials supply chain focused on recovery, reuse, and recycling to accelerate the energy transition. The Director of Operations will lead production, maintenance, and material management at the Ridgeville Mechanical Separation Factory, driving safety, continuous improvement, and performance to meet production and cost targets while partnering cross-functionally to support growth and technology development.

Skills

  • Proven leadership in manufacturing operations and 24/7 environments
  • Experience implementing Lean methodologies and process improvement
  • Track record developing and monitoring performance metrics
  • Proficient communication skills: verbal, written, and presentation
  • Experience managing the full staffing lifecycle including hiring and performance management
  • Ability to analyze data and communicate results across levels
  • Familiarity with Microsoft Office (Excel, Word, Outlook, PowerPoint)
  • Comfort working in heavy industrial settings with variable noise, lighting, and temperatures
  • Ability to lift and carry up to 50 lbs and meet physical requirements of the role
  • Willingness to travel up to 25% and be on-call for 24/7 operations support

Responsibilities

  • Lead and continuously improve a strong safety culture across a 24/7/365 manufacturing site
  • Drive continuous improvement initiatives to improve safety, quality, productivity, and cost
  • Set clear goals, measure performance, provide feedback, and hold site leaders accountable
  • Oversee workforce planning, recruitment, training, and performance evaluations for site staff
  • Manage production, maintenance, and material management teams to meet quarterly targets
  • Collaborate cross-functionally with Supply Chain, Business Development, and Design Engineering
  • Develop organizational capabilities, performance metrics, and process improvement programs
  • Ensure resource planning and coordination with HR, Finance, Safety, and Ops Integration
  • Provide on-call support and availability to support 24/7 operations as needed
  • Support domestic and international travel up to 25% for site and business needs

Education

  • Bachelor’s degree in supply chain, engineering, chemistry, or related field strongly preferred
  • High school diploma or equivalent required (with significant manufacturing leadership experience)
