Skills
- Deep knowledge of US GAAP inventory and cost accounting principles
- Experience implementing or configuring ERP inventory/cost modules (e.g., SAP, Oracle)
- Strong Excel skills for analysis and reporting
- SOX/internal controls and audit preparation experience
- Ability to lead cross-functional projects and partner with IT and operations
- Analytical mindset with experience in variance and cost-driver analysis
- Excellent written and verbal communication for non-finance stakeholders
Responsibilities
- Lead inventory and cost accounting for raw materials, WIP, finished goods, spares, and maintenance in accordance with US GAAP.
- Oversee spares and maintenance accounting processes, ensuring timely and accurate recording and valuation.
- Partner with IT, finance, and operations to design and implement worldwide enterprise finance systems for inventory, cost, and spares accounting.
- Develop and maintain costing methodologies (standard costing, FIFO/LIFO/weighted average) and perform regular reconciliations.
- Perform variance analysis and explain cost variances to management and operational teams.
- Support monthly, quarterly, and annual financial close and external reporting related to inventory and cost accounting.
- Establish and maintain internal controls over inventory and cost processes to ensure SOX compliance and audit readiness.
- Drive process improvements and automation to enhance accuracy, efficiency, and data integrity.
- Collaborate with procurement, production, engineering, and supply chain to align accounting practices with operational initiatives.
- Provide input for budgeting and forecasting of manufacturing costs and identify cost-reduction opportunities.
Education
- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field required
- CPA or CMA preferred
