Job Description:
As the Director of Recruiting, you will be the strategic leader and driving force behind attracting and retaining exceptional talent across all RaceTrac locations — including but not limited to our high-volume retail stores, and corporate Store Support Center (SSC). Serving as a key member of the HR Leadership Team, you will set the vision, lead the strategy, and ensure the effectiveness of talent acquisition across the enterprise. You will partner closely with HR Business Partners, Compensation, and business leaders to align recruitment strategies with organizational goals, ensuring we have the right talent in the right roles to drive business success.
Responsibilities:
Strategic Leadership
· Define and lead an enterprise-wide talent acquisition strategy for all employee populations that aligns with business objectives, supports long-term workforce planning, and strengthens RaceTrac’s competitive advantage in the talent market.
· Incorporate labor market data, competitive intelligence, and internal workforce analytics to inform strategy, anticipate hiring needs, and influence organizational decision-making.
· Serve as a thought partner to the HR Leadership team and other executives on talent market trends, workforce demographics, and emerging recruiting technologies.
· Create and serve as a critical center of expertise, offering guidance across all areas of recruitment strategy and operations.
Operational Excellence
· Lead and develop a high-performing team of recruiters and recruitment managers, ensuring clarity of goals, professional growth, and accountability for delivering business results.
· Drive continuous improvement in recruitment processes, tools, and systems to maximize efficiency, candidate quality, and speed-to-hire while maintaining compliance and a positive candidate experience.
· Measure, track, and communicate recruitment performance through meaningful metrics and data-driven storytelling, highlighting impact and areas for improvement to senior leadership.
· Ensure recruiting teams have consistent, practical, easy to use, and best practice tools and resources to serve our internal customers in filling their talent acquisition needs.
· Assess, select, implement, and manage all talent acquisition vendors including but not limited to sourcing tools/partners and pre-hire vendors (i.e., background checks).
· Ensure that the recruiting process is agile, flexible, and focused on scalability and continuous improvement.
· Provide guidance, training, coaching, and resources to recruiting teams in an effort to support the execution of recruiting strategies. · May be directly responsible for managing executive searches or recruiting senior-level /tough-to-fill positions.
Strategic Partnerships & Collaboration
· Partner with stakeholders (Field Operations, Store Support Center leadership, etc.) to align hiring strategies with market realities while ensuring corporate hiring efforts attract specialized, top-tier talent.
· Collaborate closely with HRBPs, Compensation, and business leaders to develop staffing plans, define role requirements, and ensure competitive, equitable offers.
· Build trusted relationships across the organization, bringing leaders along through clear communication, compelling narratives, and actionable talent insights.
Talent Sourcing & Market Engagement
· Oversee the creation of innovative sourcing strategies and employer brand initiatives to attract both active and passive candidates across all levels and geographies.
· Establish and maintain strategic external partnerships with universities, professional associations, community organizations, and diversity networks to strengthen talent pipelines.
· Leverage social media, digital marketing, and emerging recruitment platforms to expand reach and engagement with potential candidates.
· Remain aware of market conditions, trends, and business growth targets to develop, update, and execute applicable recruitment strategies. Employ analytics and out-of-the-box thinking to get ahead of issues, leverage areas of success, and make improvements in opportunity areas.
· Outline recruiting strategies and establishes local connections as the organization moves into new markets.
Qualifications:
· Bachelor’s degree from a 4-year college or university, with a focus on Human Resources or a related field, is required.
· 10+ years of progressive HR experience, including 6+ years in Talent Acquisition leadership roles with enterprise-wide responsibility. · 5+ years of experience in a managerial role, including leading people manager and high performance teams.
· Must have leadership experience recruiting in corporate functions as well as in high-volume recruitment for distributed, low-wage, hourly workforces.
· Proven ability to thrive in a fast-paced, entrepreneurial environment and react quickly to changing business needs.
· Demonstrated success in building, developing, and leading high-performing teams.
· Strong capability to use data and storytelling to influence senior leaders and drive decision-making.
· Exceptional executive presence, verbal and written communication skills, and the ability to communicate and inspire confidence at all organizational levels.
· Adept at balancing strategic vision with hands-on execution in a fast-paced, dynamic environment.
