Role Overview:

The Medical Receptionist is a vital part of our front office team, responsible for managing patient interactions and providing exceptional customer service. This role requires strong organizational multitasking abilities, excellent communication skills, and a commitment to patient satisfaction.

Key Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Greet patients and visitors warmly, whether in person or over the phone, and promptly address their inquiries or redirect them as needed.
  • Accurately log patient arrivals in the Practice Management System (EMR).
  • Verify patient identities through name and date of birth and create new accounts for new patients.
  • Prepare necessary patient paperwork ahead of appointments.
  • Contact patients who missed appointments to reschedule them and document these interactions appropriately.
  • Enhance patient satisfaction by efficiently coordinating appointments and addressing patient queries.
  • Respond promptly to patients in distress, exercising professional judgment.
  • Update patient information accurately in our system and verify insurance eligibility.
  • Ensure the reception area remains clean and organized.
  • Collect patient copays and outstanding balances during the check-in and check-out processes.
  • Maintain confidentiality of patient information while adhering to policies and procedures.
  • Support team efforts in achieving goals and results.
  • Provide exceptional customer service in every patient interaction.
  • Communicate professionally with patients, visitors, providers, and team members.
  • Perform additional responsibilities as assigned by the Practice Manager or Area Practice Manager.
  • High School Diploma is required; an Associates Degree is preferred.
  • Previous customer service experience in a healthcare office is preferred (1 year).
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills are crucial.
  • Strong organizational abilities and attention to detail are essential.
  • Ability to handle multiple tasks in a fast-paced environment.
