About the Opportunity
Summary
This position reports to the Director of Finance & Administration and is key member of the Khoury finance team providing financial support to the college. The Assistant Director manages the day-to-day financial functions and workflows for a portfolio of budget areas (cost centers). The Assistant Director will perform monthly forecasts and budget variance analysis for the portfolio areas ensuring all funds (operating, endowed, gift, and designated funds) are correctly projected. Financial support of the portfolio will also include journals, reconciliations and other transactional support as needed. Beyond the portfolio, the Assistant Director also owns several key monthly reports for the college and any supporting analysis and commentary.
The Assistant Director is also responsible for the maintenance of the college personnel tracking model. The Excel-based personnel tracker is updated regularly with changes in the active workforce and generates the budgets and forecasts for the personnel costs of the college. This is the largest component of the college’s expense budget and requires strong internal controls and attention to detail to ensuring data integrity.
The Assistant Director serves as the college’s business intelligence manager, ensuring strong communication and stewardship of procure to pay processes and tools (Intellibuy, Workday, Concur). The position works closely with key University partners including central Finance, Accounting and Procurement. The Assistant Director serves as the college representative for any questions and concerns from college users on Concur and Intellibuy.
Qualifications
Bachelor’s Degree in Accounting, Finance, Business Administration or similar
5 to 7 years of academic or business administrative experience preferred
Advanced knowledge of Excel including pivot tables, graphs and comfort manipulating data set.
Strong communication and interpersonal skills with a strong focus on customer service
Experience with Workday, Concur is desirable.
Higher education experience is desirable
Discretion & confidentiality in handling sensitive data.
Experience and comfort working in a highly matrixed organization
Strong organizational skills with ability to work independently
Thrives in a dynamic, multi-tasking environment and can adjust priorities quickly
