Community Center Shift Supervisor (Muckleshoot Tribal Member Only)

JOB SUMMARY

Assists in supervising Community Center staff to ensure that daily operations run efficiently and effectively, and that Muckleshoot youth athletes received opportunities to participate in activities with a focus on leadership skills, life skills, and healthier lifestyles.

MAJOR TASKS AND RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Supervises department staff during assigned shift, providing guidance and counseling as needed; determines workloads and schedules, implementing policies and procedures, effectively evaluating staff and recommending hire and terminations, performs disciplinary actions.
  • Ensures Community Center staff communicates and interacts effectively with youth, parents, external sport league staff/coaches, or other sports associates.
  • Develops and implements staff schedules, to ensure they coincide with the activities, events and/or tournaments.
  • Assists with reviewing program budget and monitoring expenditures.  Recommends budget modifications to Director.
  • Prepares, modifies, and maintains written reports and/or financial and statistical reports and provides regular updates regarding program participants as requested and/or needed.
  • Assist in leading the development, tracking, reporting, and analysis of program goals, outcomes, and individual performance metrics in accordance with strategic and operating plans.
  • Maintains collaborative relationships with interdepartmental staff, community members, and external agencies.
  • Assists with policy development for the Community Center; able to interpret and implement policies for the Community Center.
  • Assists in implementing strategies for building pathways to individual success and community empowerment utilizing best practices for program implementation and evaluation.
  • articipates in related program training, meetings, and activities.
  • Because of the Tribe’s commitment to community service and the wellbeing of its members, each employee may be expected to perform a wide range of office and field duties from time to time. Such duties may or may not be related to their regular responsibilities, and may include driving.
  • EDUCATION - EXPERIENCE AND TRAINING FOR POSITION

    Required: Associates Degree or related field from an accredited college or university and 1 year of related administrative experience and/or supervisory experience is required. (A combination of education and/or training and/or experience which provides an equivalent background required to perform the work of the class may be accepted in lieu of the education requirement).

     

    Preferred: Experience working within a Tribal community. 

     

    Special Requirements: Must pass a criminal background check, a drug screen and meet all health and immunization requirements. 

    SPECIFIC SKILLS/KNOWLEDGE/ABILITIES REQUIRED FOR POSITION

    Skilled in: Planning, assigning, scheduling and reviewing the work of staff; implementing and evaluating programs and activities; interpreting and implementing policies and procedures; assessing community recreation needs; organizing and coordinating programs and activities; preparing reports and giving presentations; communicating effectively; receiving work direction; developing interpersonal relationships; using a computer and standard office equipment.

     

    Knowledge of:  Principles and practices of employee supervision, including work planning, assignment and review and the training of staff in work procedures; principles and techniques of planning and directing group, social and recreational activities for various age groups; recreation program development methods and practices; basic budgeting theories and principles; facility scheduling and coordination; community organizing; marketing techniques and principles.

     

    Ability to:  Effectively communicate with diverse groups; establish and maintain effective working relationships; meet deadlines and schedules; prioritize and coordinate activities; use sporting equipment; maintain a positive attitude and work ethic; be a role model for staff and youth athletes; maintain confidentiality; use independent judgment.

    PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS

    The working conditions described herein are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential duties of this class. 

    The employee is frequently required to sit, talk, or hear. The employee is required to stand, walk, balance, bend at the waist, crouch, kneel, twist, use foot controls, and operate a motor vehicle.  The employee must lift, carry and/or push/pull up to 20 pounds. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision and the ability to adjust focus. While performing the duties of this job, the employee occasionally works in outside weather. The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate.

    Licenses or Certifications Required

    A current and valid Washington State Driver’s License, CPR/First Aid certificate and Food Handlers Permit.
