Marketing Manager - Home Lending

Overview: 

M&T Bank’s Growth Marketing team is seeking a highly motivated and experienced Home Lending Marketing Manager to drive marketing strategy and innovation for mortgage and home equity products. This role is responsible for conceptualizing, developing, executing, and evaluating marketing programs that deliver acquisition, engagement, and retention across the full customer lifecycle.

 

While primarily an individual contributor, the position may act as a team lead (without direct supervisory responsibility), coach others, and guide third-party activities.  The ideal candidate is a strategic builder and a cross-functional leader who thrives in environments where innovation, collaboration, and execution intersect.

Primary Responsibilities:

  • Align mortgage marketing initiatives with the enterprise mission, vision, and strategic direction.
  • Build strong relationships across the department and with key partners in lending, product, compliance, and sales; influence and inspire alignment across teams.
  • Define value propositions, target segments, and acquisition/retention strategies using customer insights and competitive intelligence.
  • Own go-to-market readiness and develop full-funnel, multi-channel marketing plans (digital, email, CRM nurture, direct mail, events).
  • Lead campaign execution from concept to launch across channels—digital, email, paid media, owned assets, and internal communications.
  • Establish and monitor performance metrics, reporting on KPIs such as lead volume, cost-per-lead, conversion rates, and ROI; analyze customer insights and campaign data to optimize strategies and messaging; ensure findings inform future campaigns and refine go-to-market plans.
  • Communicate clearly with team members and stakeholders across the enterprise.
  • Support implementation of marketing procedures, practices, and routines within the area.
  • Represent M&T Bank at external events for research and networking activities that benefit the company.
  • Complete assignments independently while leveraging team resources effectively.
  • Adhere to the company’s risk and regulatory standards, policies, and controls; escalate risk-related issues as needed.
  • Promote an environment that supports belonging and reflects the M&T Bank brand.
  • Maintain internal control standards, including timely resolution of audit points and regulatory issues.
  • Perform other related duties as assigned.

Education and Experience Required:

  • Bachelor’s degree OR a combination of 9 years of higher education and relevant experience.
  • Minimum 5 years of marketing experience.
  • Experience in Home Lending (Mortgage and Home Equity) marketing required.
  • Proven ability to resolve escalated issues and complex problems.
  • Demonstrated success building strong working relationships with internal and external partners.
  • Ability to research, evaluate, and recommend changes to initiatives or projects.
  • Experience mentoring and/or onboarding junior talent.
  • Technical expertise and independent judgment in area of responsibility.

M&T Bank is committed to fair, competitive, and market-informed pay for our employees. The pay range for this position is $89,600.00 - $149,300.00 Annual (USD). The successful candidate’s particular combination of knowledge, skills, and experience will inform their specific compensation.
