About the Role

We are looking for an Interpreter and Translator to write, review, and validate prompt-based questions designed to train AI.

Your expertise in language translation, interpretation, localization, and cultural nuance will ensure each prompt and response reflects how real-world language professionals communicate clearly, accurately, and contextually. You’ll help shape how AI understands grammar, tone, idiomatic usage, and domain-specific terminology across multiple languages and cultural settings.

You are a good fit if you:

• Have over 3+ years of professional experience in interpreting or translating for academic, medical, legal, corporate, or diplomatic settings
• Have a bachelor’s degree in translation studies, linguistics, a foreign language, or a related field
• Are currently based in the U.S., Canada, New Zealand, UK or Australia
• Have a strong background in:
• Translating technical or legal documents
• Interpreting in real-time or consecutive settings
• Localizing content for different cultural audiences
• Maintaining translation glossaries
• Ensuring tone and intent are preserved
• Demonstrate excellent verbal and written communication skills
• Have strong attention to details

Role Highlights

• Flexible workload: 10–20 hours per week, with potential to increase to 40 hours
• Fully remote and asynchronous — work on your own schedule
• Minimum duration: 1–2 months, with potential for extension

Role Start Date

• This role will begin in mid to late-July, with applications reviewed on a rolling basis

Interview Process

• You will take an AI interview where you will be asked questions about your background in translation, interpretation, and cross-cultural communication
• You will share your screen and write a detailed prompt to generate an AI response about a language services scenario
• You will evaluate and compare LLM outputs to determine which response is more effective and accurate
• Applicants will be selected based on their performance in the AI interview and the accuracy and quality of their evaluations

Compensation & Legal Details

• You will be legally classified as an hourly contractor for Mercor
• We will pay you out at the end of each week via Stripe Connect
