Medical Records Specialist

Role Summary

We are looking for a Medical Records Specialist to write, review, and validate prompt-based questions designed to train AI.

Your expertise in health records management, EHR systems, coding, and HIPAA compliance will ensure each prompt and response reflects how healthcare professionals organize, access, and safeguard patient data.

You’ll help shape how AI understands clinical documentation workflows, terminology, and medical recordkeeping standards used in hospitals, clinics, and billing environments.

You Are a Good Fit If You:

• Have 3+ years of professional experience in medical records management, health information technology, or clinical documentation
• Hold a bachelor’s or associate degree in health information management, medical coding, or a related healthcare field
• Are currently based in the U.S., Canada, New Zealand, UK, or Australia
• Have a strong background in:
• Maintaining patient charts and EHRs
• Abstracting clinical data
• Applying ICD/CPT codes
• Ensuring documentation completeness
• Correcting record discrepancies
• Supporting provider documentation workflows
• Upholding HIPAA and regulatory standards
• Demonstrate excellent verbal and written communication skills
• Have strong attention to detail

Role Highlights

• Flexible workload: 10–20 hours per week (potential to increase to 40 hours)
• Fully remote and asynchronous – work on your own schedule
• Minimum duration: 1–2 months, with potential for extension

Role Start Date

• Begins mid to late-July
• Applications are reviewed on a rolling basis

Interview Process

• Participate in an AI interview focused on your background in medical records workflows, data accuracy, and clinical documentation standards
• Share your screen and write a detailed prompt for a health information scenario
• Evaluate and compare LLM outputs to determine which response is more accurate and effective
• Applicants are selected based on performance in the AI interview and the accuracy and quality of evaluations

Compensation & Legal Details

• You’ll be legally classified as an hourly contractor for Mercor
• Paid weekly via Stripe Connect
