About the Role
Mercor is looking for a Computer User Support Specialist to write, review, and validate prompt-based questions designed to train AI.
Your background in technical troubleshooting, end-user support, software setup, and IT ticket resolution will help ensure each AI-generated response reflects real-world workflows in support environments. You’ll shape how AI understands hardware/software issues, service desk communication, and troubleshooting protocols.
You’re a Good Fit If You:
- Have 3+ years of experience in IT Helpdesk, desktop support, or user-facing tech support
- Hold a Bachelor’s degree in Information Technology, Computer Science, or a related field
- Are based in the U.S., Canada, New Zealand, UK, or Australia
- Are experienced in:
- Diagnosing software/hardware issues
- Resolving connectivity problems
- Walking users through setups and configurations
- Managing tickets and documentation
- Escalating complex issues
- Supporting remote/hybrid environments
- Have excellent verbal and written communication skills
- Are highly detail-oriented
Role Highlights
- Workload: 10–20 hours/week (potential to scale to 40)
- Remote & asynchronous — set your own schedule
- Duration: 1–2 months minimum, with possible extension
Start Date
- Mid to late July 2025

Interview Process
- AI Interview — questions about your background in IT support and customer service
- Live Screen Share — write a prompt to simulate an AI-generated response to a technical support scenario
- Evaluation Task — assess LLM outputs and compare them for effectiveness and accuracy
Candidates will be selected based on their performance in the interview and evaluation task.
Compensation & Contract
- You’ll be classified as an hourly contractor for Mercor
- Payment is weekly via Stripe Connect
