Location: Remote (U.S., Canada, New Zealand, UK, or Australia)

Compensation: $15–$35/hour (paid weekly via Stripe Connect)

Commitment: Hourly, independent contractor

Role Overview

Mercor is hiring a Word Processor and Typist to help train advanced AI systems. You’ll write, review, and validate prompt-based questions focused on typing, transcription, document formatting, and file management. Your inputs will help AI understand and generate high-quality business, legal, medical, and academic documents.

You’re a strong fit if you:

• Have 3+ years of experience in typing, transcription, or document processing
• Hold a bachelor’s or associate degree in business administration, communications, or a related field (or equivalent experience)
• Are based in the U.S., Canada, UK, Australia, or New Zealand
• Are skilled in:
• Typing business correspondence and reports
• Transcribing audio or handwritten content
• Formatting official documents and using templates
• Editing for grammar and layout
• Managing files and version logs
• Have excellent communication skills and a strong attention to detail

Role Details

• Hours/Week: 10–20 hrs (with potential to increase to 40 hrs/week)
• Schedule: Fully remote and asynchronous
• Duration: Minimum 1–2 months, extendable
• Start Date: Mid to late July (rolling applications)

Interview Process

• A 25-minute AI interview via screen share
• You’ll:
• Answer questions about your experience with document workflows
• Write a prompt to generate an AI response to a typing/document scenario
• Evaluate two LLM outputs and choose the better one
• Selection is based on performance in writing and evaluation tasks

• You will be classified as an hourly contractor
• Paid weekly via Stripe Connect
