About the Role
We are looking for an Educational, Guidance, and Career Counselor and Advisor to write, review, and validate prompt-based questions designed to train AI.
Your expertise in academic planning, student development, career counseling, and advising best practices will ensure each prompt and response reflects how professionals support learners in making informed educational, personal, and professional decisions. You’ll help shape how AI understands goal-setting, decision-making, career pathways, and support services in K–12, higher education, and workforce development contexts.
You are a good fit if you:
- Have over 3+ years of professional experience in academic advising, career counseling, or a student support services
- Have a bachelor's or master’s degree in counseling, education, student affairs, psychology, or a related field
- Are currently based in the U.S., Canada, New Zealand, UK or the Australia
- Have a strong background in areas such as:
- Supporting students through academic or career transitions
- Creating development plans
- Interpreting assessments
- Facilitating workshops
- Advising on college or job applications
- Addressing personal and social barriers to success
- Demonstrate excellent verbal and written communication skills
- Have strong attention to details
Role Highlights
- Flexible workload: 10–20 hours per week, with potential to increase to 40 hours
- Fully remote and asynchronous — work on your own schedule
- Minimum duration: 1–2 months, with potential for extension
Role Start Date
- This role will begin in mid to late-July, with applications reviewed on a rolling basis
Interview Process
- You will take an AI interview where you will be asked questions about your background in academic advising, counseling techniques, and career development planning
- You will share your screen and write a detailed prompt to generate an AI response about a student support scenario
- You will evaluate and compare LLM outputs to determine which response is more effective and accurate
- Applicants will be selected based on their performance in the AI interview and the accuracy and quality of their evaluations
Compensation and Legal Details
- You will be legally classified as an hourly contractor for Mercor
- We will pay you out at the end of each week via Stripe Connect
