Senior Manager, Accounting - Shared Financial Services

Make-A-Wish is the world’s largest wish-granting organization focused on creating life-changing wishes for eligible children. The Senior Manager, Accounting — Shared Financial Services will lead and mentor a team of accountants, oversee financial reporting and month-end close for SFS chapters, drive process improvements, support audits and onboarding of new chapters, and partner with chapter leaders to ensure GAAP-compliant financials and accurate budgeting/forecasting.

Skills

  • Thorough knowledge of GAAP and financial statement preparation
  • Strong month-end close and variance analysis skills
  • Experience with budgeting, forecasting, and financial benchmarking
  • Audit planning and coordination experience
  • Advanced Microsoft Excel skills
  • Experience with NetSuite (strongly preferred)
  • Working knowledge of Salesforce reporting/coding
  • Demonstrated people management and leadership skills
  • Ability to handle sensitive information with confidentiality and strong ethics

Responsibilities

  • Lead and manage a team of 8–10 accountants, including 3–4 direct reports, setting expectations and managing workload
  • Oversee monthly close, review financial statements, and ensure timely variance analysis and explanations
  • Serve as advisor on accounting practices, internal controls, budgeting, forecasting, and audit processes
  • Lead onboarding and transition activities for chapters joining SFS, ensuring historical tie-outs and account setup
  • Collaborate with Accounts Payable, Donor Care, and other support teams to streamline processes
  • Provide guidance on NetSuite and Salesforce coding/reporting for chapter revenue streams
  • Support internal and external audit planning and communication for chapters
  • Monitor chapter performance against budget and national benchmarks and ensure GAAP and policy compliance
  • Participate in system implementations, process enhancements, and cross-functional initiatives

Education

  • Bachelor’s degree in accounting or related field required
  • CPA designation is a plus
  • Nonprofit accounting knowledge preferred
