Remote – United States | Full-Time | Canals AI
Canals is a bootstrapped, profitable startup transforming wholesale distribution — a trillion-dollar industry — with AI. Our platform integrates directly with the systems distributors already use, automating tedious workflows and eliminating failure points in the movement of physical goods across the globe.
We’re a 55-person, fully remote team (40 engineers) across North and South America, operating at millions in ARR and scaling fast without outside funding. Our customers range from regional distributors to global enterprises who depend on Canals to run their operations more efficiently.
Canals is expanding into payments — helping distributors move money as seamlessly as they move products. We’re looking for a General Manager, Payments to build and lead this new business from the ground up.
You’ll own everything from market strategy and GTM to product roadmap and partnerships. This is a senior executive role for someone who understands payments infrastructure, B2B transactions, and how to build scalable, high-trust financial products. You’ll work cross-functionally with product, engineering, and sales to define our payments vision and turn it into a high-growth, profitable business line.
Own the strategy and execution for Canals’ payments business, from vision to revenue.
Build and lead a cross-functional team across product, operations, and GTM as the business scales.
Partner with product and engineering to develop B2B payments and embedded finance products that solve real distributor pain points.
Define KPIs, pricing, and revenue models for payments products and services.
Develop strategic partnerships with banks, processors, and fintech providers.
Ensure compliance and security standards are met as we expand financial capabilities.
Represent the payments business internally and externally — driving thought leadership and customer engagement.
8–15+ years of experience in payments, fintech, or B2B financial products.
Proven track record of building or scaling a new business line (GM, VP, or Head of role preferred).
Deep understanding of payments infrastructure, merchant onboarding, settlements, and embedded finance.
Strategic thinker who can balance vision with execution.
Strong leadership and communication skills; thrives in fast-moving, high-ownership environments.
Experience in startup or growth-stage SaaS companies preferred.
Comfortable working remotely with distributed teams across time zones.
Bootstrapped & profitable: stability and freedom without investor pressure.
Massive market: wholesale distribution and B2B payments are still largely offline.
Greenfield opportunity: build a new business line inside a high-performing company with strong customer traction.
Collaborative culture: tight-knit, high-output team that values ownership and trust.
Remote-first: work anywhere in the U.S. with flexible hours and high autonomy.
